So Many "New" Songs! (Score:1, Informative)
What an absolute thrill to hear Last of the International Playboys, I Like You, Irish Blood English Heart and my favorite~Sister I'm a Poet. Tomorrow was deleted:( There were a few other additions to the setlist but I can't recall them in my present Avignon haze. He threw out 2 shirts, and there was quite a ridiculous tussle after the show regarding the t-shirt that was thrown out. Met and spoke with the soft-spoken and frail-appearing Julia after the show. Some good banter between just a few songs, a packaged Oscar Wilde figure was given to Moz, as well as artwork and quite a few flowers.
Had a lot of fun with the wonderful people around me shouts out to the TCB crew and Johnny and Susie.

Three shirts were tossed after LMKY, HSIN, and Please. The crowd was slightly more energetic but still polite by past standards. A fight between two guys did break out during Pigsty of all songs. If someone is going to be the first to invade the stage in SF and the set list stays the same, the time to go is FOTGTD. Note he didn't leave the stage after FOTGTD. Please someone give a good report tomorrow, as I sadly can't make it.

Some of the intermission viddies made a return -- those English guys arguing about a bag. Lipsynka was dropped.
Backdrop the same (Richard Burton from Look Back in Anger doubled). While the motto remained the same on the bass drum ("SOME OF US IS / TURNING NASTY") it was blue instead of brown.
Two large vases of BLUE roses flanked the drum kit on the floor, but Mozzer got his mic cord tangled in them both during the first song. He actually knocked down the vase on the left and made a big mess. I wanted a rose, but I don't know where the vases went after getting knocked over.
For you frinksters with a cord-whipping fetish, you will cream your pants: Every night he's been very energetically whipping it around. It also seems when he's frustrated with the mic, he seems extra vicious with it.
Thanks to the big thug tussling wiff security and distracting them at the end, I was able to get a historic setlist. I wasn't going to bother, but Moz played the song I requested -- for us "collectors who sniff" out his perversely brilliant b-sides:

I was delirious with happiness and excitement with how much he mixed up the setlist. Early on, he gave me a handshake (and not many people on my side were so lucky). I really dug The Loop...and then he has to go and do Good Looking Man About Town!
I was really pleased and honored. I have requested Lost and I Can Have Both, so I guess you might blame me if you don't like Moz playing these songs. But I have to say GLMAT sounded kind of off and thudding live. Also Mozzer's mic was mixed down too low. He had trouble with it all night. Maybe GLMAT needs Alain to play it to make it come alive . Moz said after it, "Julia, I promise never to play it again. They hated it." I screamed (along with others), "NOOOOO!!! That joke isn't funny (anymore)!"
Early on in the set, maybe after the first song, Moz noted the unusual aroma wafting in towards the stage. Since I wasn't near the epicenter of the Billy Budd smokers this time, I didn't detect it as much, but Moz sure noticed it! I think someone asked him if he partook of da kine, but he responded that he's far too old to set a bad example. Heh heh. I noticed the skunk weed grow a lot stronger when he played Billy Budd. Why Don't You F ? is also very 420 friendly. I guess it's something about stuff hidden in the grass.
I think after Disco Dancer, he returned and said something about how even singers need to PEE! Interesting because as you can see on the setlist, San Francisco, he declares Sister I'm a PEE.
I may be getting the order of his banter wrong, but he also asked M & G if he could ask them a question. I don't think they agreed, but Moz asked them anyway: You have been to most of the shows last year and this year. How do you get the money? G said he still doesn't have an answer for Moz. M replied that he's never home to get the bill. Then Moz asked me how I get the money. I said, "I robbed a bank." He said, "That's the way to do it!"
Well, I couldn't tell the truth; that would've been far too boring: I tried to prostitute my body on the street, but no one would have me. So I got wise and though I'm missing my left kidney and now have a luvverly glass eye in my right eye socket...I still have my left eye to see Moz. ; )
Right before Grow Hup, a tall guy (E) who is one of the first to queue every day in SF, gave Mozzer an Oscar Wilde action figure. Moz asked him where he found i

The set had been thoroughly remixed; one Smiths song ("London" and/or "Shoplifters...), was omitted. "One day Goodbye Will Be Farewell," "Tomorrow," and "National Front Disco" "were also sacrificed, while "I Like You," "Good Looking Man About Town," and "Let Me Kiss You" found their way into the set.
But oh, there were even greater gems gained!
"Irish Blood...." sounded phenomenally strong.
"The Loop" was amazing. I had a feeling it would be "Sing Your Life" when the standup bass remained onstage after "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself," but was wrong. Either way, the song was one of the standouts of the set. "The Loop" was flawless, bouncy rockabilly perfection.
And then, my dreams were fulfilled when he dusted off "Sister, I'm a Poet," in a new mid-tempo configuration.
Lovely. It has been one of my favorites since the 80's and I've always wanted to hear it live. It contains one of my favorite Morrissey lines ever:
"And is evil
Just something you Are?
Or something you Do?"
I think I actually said "I can die happily now" when he introduced it (as "San Francisco, I'm a Poet" nonetheless!).
"Interesting Drug," "Late Night, Maudlin Street," "I Want The One I Can't Have," "Rubber Ring," are all on my wish list.
Though it will never happen; I also would love "Well I Wonder."
Idle dreaming, I know. I'll take what I can get and be thankful for it.
And right now, what Morrissey and co. are delivering is pretty damned amazing to experience, and well worth the lost sleep during the working week!

"Tickets? Anyone got extra tickets? Tickets?" he said non stop.
"I have an extra one," said a guy in front of us.
"How much?"
"One hundred," the ticket holder replied.
"Shit. I don't have that much. I have to buy four tickets. I lost them... The show hasn't even sold out," the buyer said with anxiety in his eyes.
"Sorry but its a hundred dollars."
A few minutes later another person came by and the ticket holder got his hundred dollars. The guy in front of Vi and I went and got a taco, we held his place in line.
"Ah ha! One step closer to Morrissey," I exclaimed as he walked away. "Sucker." When he came back we let him back in line.
The minutes passed slowly as Vi and I talked about the upcoming K-1 Max (a world muay thai tournament). When the conversation petered out we quizzed each other, impressing each other with our Morrissey factoids. My ability to keep track of these things isn't that good. The only thing I remembered was that the guitarist was in the polecats (but that was only because Vi talked about it on Monday night).
We were let in at 7 o'clock and we quickly made our way to the front of the stage. Facing the stage itself we were one person behind the security gate on the left. Certainly a modest position but one we had to guard through out Kristeen Young's set. The crowd for the most part was pretty mellow and surprisingly I wasn't tossed about or smashed up against the gate. Then again Morrissey isn't “System of a Down,” or “Rage against the Machine.” The violence he invokes is a bit more sophisticated.
Kristeen Young musically is a cross between Bjork and Tori Amos. Like Bjork she has a penchant for unusual wardrobe. Last night she wore a dress that looked like it was made of paper dollies. Streaking down the right side was red ribbon with a small heart pinned on her chest. Her upper left shoulder was covered in plastic and her left hand looked like it was wrapped in medical tape. She's a talented musician but most people seemed to find her music vaguely irritating. When the crowd doesn't show proper enthusiasm she's prone to state clever witticisms or sarcastic comments. Its an admirable trait. Her set lasted about forty minutes.
After the stage was cleared the prelude videos came on. The videos began with a pompous French gent wooing women from around the world. The New York dolls were shown playing “Just looking for a kiss” and we got to see David Johansen's bare midriff as he bounced with punkish enthusiasm.
“Are you excited?” asked a young woman standing next to us.
“Yeah.” I replied.
“Me too. I am soooo excited.”
Morrissey came on stage around nine o'clock and immediately went into his set. I enjoyed the show last night much more than on Monday. The set list was better and the visceral experience of being right up front made things more exciting.
Towards the end of the show Morrissey came over and asked a couple skin heads how they afforded coming out to see him so often.
“I really can't say,” the skinhead replied with his cockney accent.
I thought it was silly that they couldn't just admit that they were drug dealers, or petty thugs. I could imagine them lurking in a dark alleyway across the street from an atm machine.
“One more mate and we can buy the tickets to see Morrissey,” the one in the polo would say.
“This cunt better have taken out more than a bill. I'd like to pick up that Cocksparrer album that that whore stole from me too when she left me. Ah fuck it, as long as we get to see Morrissey croon to us,” the other skin head thug would reply.
I'd brought a small stenciled portrait of Morrissey and attempted to give it to him through out the eve
