I have given up my tickets reluctantly to my son and his girlfriend (19), their 1st time of seeing Moz and this shit happens.

I can understand Moz going off, I just hope hes not badly injured, its such a shame for people who love Moz who have travelled so far to adore listening to his amazing music.

I am sickened that someone mongrel can go to a gig buying tickets just to abuse the artist.

We paid face value and drove 10 minutes to get there but a lot of people paid a lot more for travel etc. If it had been a glass bottle then fair enough, but it wasn't. And to think his opening words were "It's Saturday night, it's Liverpool, it's raining and it's perfect"!

Nobody can blame Morrissey for walking off stage and not coming back after that. He has already collapsed on stage once this tour. I can't imagine a beer bottle to the head would be a positive step towards avoiding a second on stage collapse.

  • Morrissey came out and said:
"Good evening, it's Saturday, it's raining, it's Liverpool and it's perfect", then did a great rendition of This Charming Man.
Then Black Cloud, halfway through a plastic pint glass was thrown, hitting Moz on the head. He said "Goodbye" then left, with the band following. The person who threw it was ejected and after about ten minutes someone come and said "Morrissey was struck by a bottle of beer. This concert will not take place."

So for the actions of one person Morrissey has punished 20,000. I can understand him being annoyed, but storming off like a child and letting so many of his fans down is seriously out of order, especially as the prick who threw the bottle was ejected.

A major let down, and probably the last time I waste my money on Morrissey.

I just hope that the Liverpool public is not all tarred with the same brush as the moron who threw the bottle. The fact is, 1 person ruined it for the crowd & also Morrissey himself, who was really up for it. I hope the Echo Arena release a proper press release (not just refunds given etc) saying what happens to the offender as this will hopefully stop othe rpeople in the future destroying nights for true fans.

Still close to the standing crowd. Stepped back slightly and someone in the first three or four rows launched a full plastic bottle of beer ( I hope) that hit him fullon the side of the head and splashed ale all over his head and shirt. He stopped and walked off with band. Thirty minutes of security having discussions with front three rows of crowd while highly distressed people around me suggested increasingly gruesome genitali-related punishments for beer-chucked. I gave up and came home. Think I'll watch the boxing. Sigh.

  • Despite the Morrissey standard line that he doesn't care about his fans. He does. He doesn't need to tour anymore, he is doing it for us. He picks songs he thinks we will like, and he wants us to enjoy the show.

I feel really sorry for him that so called 'fans' feel the need to abuse him. Its just the sort of Morrissey solo anonymous abuse manifested into physical form that sent him off tonight, in the words of his current album,

If you dont like me, then dont look at me,

exactly, to the pissed up cunt who through the bottle, stay at home, put queen is dead on and drink till you shit your pants reminicing about the 'good old days'

and leave the real fans to enjoy the morrissey we love and and adore today.

  • That’s it. Enough is enough. As if Morrissey doesn’t have enough on his plate … this demented criminal who did this to Morrissey should rot in hell. This isn’t even a human being. Can you imagine the shock if you are up there singing … mind you, Morrissey being as frail and sick as he is, with all of that weight that he has lost as indicated and seen on You Tube. Morrissey struggled to go on tonight, for YOU fans, “fans“. That’s right, Morrissey is very very frail and not well, but through it all -- he managed to attempt a beautiful performance. He does not need the money, he does not need the stress involved, and he certainly does not need to fulfill any obligations to anybody -- anymore. He is exhausted.

I hope there was surveillance, and I hope they find this inhumane worthless pile of garbage (ghetto slime) and lock him or her up in the jail. This, well what transpired tonight is unspeakable and unforgivable. I am Soooo sickened but then again, nothing should surprise me … but this, this I would have never seen coming -- even from the lowest of the low life “fans”. Noooo.

Do you realise that Morrissey could be seriously injured? I do not care if it was plastic or glass. I do not care if it was a paper cup, it is the, the “intent”, the intentions of this “fan”, which in my book, well they are tantamount to a murderer.
I want to know the identity of this cruel, heartless, poisonous snake. That’s right and don’t say that I am overreacting because I am not. No. Morrissey is already sick, and it is highly probable that he has severe migraines and/or other medical complications regarding headaches; therefore any, “any” blow to the head could cause more serious complications. He already collapsed recently and any blow to the head, especially in his guarded condition is not something to say “Big Deal” about. I can only hope it was just a Panic Attack on the 24th but No, it was more serious than a Panic Attack.

This unforgivable horrifying “intent” of this sicko as well as those commenting here actually blaming Morrissey for walking off is indicative of why Morrissey is ashamed of 95% of his fans.

  • Just arrived back in Manchester after the Liverpool 'gig'. A superb venue, laid back people and a great vibe. Bought tickets for £32.50 each from the box office. All very sedate and grown-up. Took our 3 seats in Block 17 lower tier right next to the stage. All the hallmarks of an amazing night. Just after 9pm Moz walks on dressed in a brown suit with flared slacks. He looked the part and really up for it after recent 'disappointments'. This Charming Man rocked the Arena and the sound on Black Cloud was fantastic. Then halfway through the song, a plastic glass of beer (?), flung from about 5 rows back, hit him in the forehead. I think he carried on for another line or two then simply said 'goodbye'. It certainly WAS NOT a bottle that hit him but but the beer did go all over his face and hair. We then had a ridiculous few minutes of his security shining torches into the crowd and people pointing to the offender. The crowd was chanting 'get him out'. I think everyone thought Moz would come back on but security told me he left the venue quite soon after the incident. The lights stayed down. One of the road crew told the crowd Moz wasn't coming back. Boos! Then an official announcement said the same thing over the PA. Cue more boos and the house lights on. Some people headed for the exits, many just hung around. We stayed for about 30 mins then left, the venue was still about a third full. Handed a leaflet saying to contact the venue regarding any possible refunds. The box office had the shutters down. Most people remained really calm although several were shouting and abusing the road crew at the front. One guy broke the cordon and ran backstage to be chased out by security. A mad, mad and very sad night. I've seen Morrissey enough times to know this isn't representative but still truly disappointed ... I think he would have been so warmly received had he resumed the gig but sadly some people will give up on him after tonight. One idiot has wrecked what promised to be such a beautiful evening. Gutted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Didn't look like a bottle to me. Remember he earned more tonight than any of us earn in a year and when you think of the s**t we sometimes have to take. In the unlikely event I get my money back it will barely cover half of the cost of my evening. After 20 years I am belatedly coming to the conclusion that Morrissey has little respect for his fans.
Feel free to troll me but this is my honest opinion.
Most of us are just happy to get out of Liverpool alive, I don't see the big deal in getting his hair wet.

  • Up until the incident, Moz was really on form. The crowd (bar one person) were really up for it and it was shaping up to be a fantastic night.

I was near the front when it happened. I think he was bending down to shake hands with someone when it happened. It looked like a plastic water bottle. Hit him on side of head. He stood up and said goodbye.

Security did remove somebody from the audience.

Such a shame that the remaining fans must suffer as the result of one pricks actions

  • The extent to which Morrissey's fans will defend their idol is ridiculous. He got showered with a bit of beer from a plastic cup and he calls the WHOLE fucking concert off?? The man has tested my patience to the limit. I will never buy a ticket to see the prima donna again. It's over. Yes the guy who threw the offending 'missile' was obviously a prick, but Morrissey was an even bigger prick by letting thousands of people down because of it. Who the hell does Morrissey think he is?

          • OK, I'll go with you on this one - if someone in your office threw a little beer on you (not a bottle of beer though - Morriseey wasn't hit by a bottle, I was there) I suspect that your colleagues would think more of you for drying you hair and carrying on. If I sweated off home because my hair got wet my colleagues would think I was a tit and by the time I got home & had calmed down, I would realise that that they were probably right.

It was going to be a brilliant night, but unfortunately selfish bastards ruined it.

In the afternoon Ganglord, Ask, Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself, Nowhere Fast were soundchecked.

Morrissey and the Lads were on stage at nine.
He was wearing grey suit and blue checked shirt, the Lads were in white shirt and grey trousers.

Morrissey greeted 'It's Saturday in Liverpool, it's raining, perfect' and started This Charming Man and shooke hands.
He's in a good spirit and sounded great.

When Black Cloud was started Morrissey was walking in the centre of the stage, shaking hand in the middle, then suddenly a selfish bugger threw a cup which hit his head.

As reported Morrissey said good bye and walked off.

Security guards shouted that the culprit should come forward otherwise the gig would be haulted.
People in the middle started shouting at the buggers.
It took about 10 minuites to get the idiot who threw a cup and he was pulled out.
However, there's another one who is a mate of the git, but somehow managed to get away with it.
We were waiting for Morrissey, but sadly the announcement was made that it's over.

It's totally outrageous to throw a thing at someone on stage.
Many people travelled from all over the world to see the final 2009 UK gig.
I'm really shocked to witness what happened and just want to say that these idiots should never be allowed to see any gigs again.

  • The bottle / plastic glass hit him full on the head. Given that it had to travel however far up to get on to the stage and then to get above his 6 foot ish frame to land on the top of his head it was travelling some when it hit him. God knows what was in it, and why should he carry on. i was there and I was pissed off to say the least, but not with Morrissey. He has not been well and he comes out clearly in a good mood and then some prick does that. Thanks wanker.
