Something That I Might Be Ashamed Of

Alright.
I'm calling you lot out for some reinforcement here.
We all have little guilty pleasures beneath our obviously substantial cool factors, right?
Like, maybe peeking whilst flipping channels, at that really stupid reality show, or secretly enjoying a piece of pop music so removed from one's usual tastes? Yeah?
Well, I feel like a right honorable dickhead for it, but there is this girl, she can't be more than 21 or 22, who has a little twist on her version of top 40, and I am diggin' it.
You'd think it was some horrible thing for a person to do the way I'm chastising myself.
There is a dark quality to this chick's music. She writes all her own stuff, which is impressing some of the industry's finest. She also has immense commercial appeal because she is young, hot, and her sound is fresh and has a few good nostalgic elements as well.
If any of you feel comfortable sharing your guilty pop pleasures, I'll show you mine...heheh, but, I'm not going first. I confessed, that is all I can manage at this point, publicly.

I like Taylor swifts last album. I cry sometimes with joy with how beautiful the world and the people around me look sometimes. I don't suffer "needy people" or people who have to fill the silence very well. I accept it can all end in tears at any minute, so I savor trivial moments like its the best thing that ever happened. When I get a package delivered in the mail of some long thought about goody, the family knows after hello, I'm going to open it and fiddle with it before any real meaningful dialogue occurs.

my shameful shame is starbucks. i go there every damn day... it's really the only place to hang out in the vicinity of where i live. nonetheless, i'm a not-so-proud Corporate Cawfee Guzzler.

there! i said it! your turn haaaa

Hmmm...my guilty pleasure is Madonna. I love her. Always have. Love her voice, her body, her eyes, her hair...this is my favorite video:

I watch this video every single day. :o

I knew you guys would turn up with SOMETHING!!
Ok, I'm satisfied, I'll show you mine.
She's a namesake, another Charli, XCX, specifically.
She's the sort of girl I was at school.
Drawn that way, bad.
Anyway, this chick seems like a pretty smart cookie, she's writing her stuff, as I mentioned, and currently, the highest paid singer in the world. Or, so sayeth one website I saw yesterday.
Here's the one on which I am most keen, and a few for your viewing if you haven't seen them already on telly.

And this one is from a film called The Fault In Our Stars.

She is British, but her mum is a Ugandan Indian.
Ages ago the Ugandan government hired a bunch of Sikhs from India to come and work on the railroads. Some of them stayed. There are a lot of them in Britain now. What's-his-face has a cousin who married a girl from the same background.
Anyway, her dad is Scottish, she grew up in Cambridge, (turns me green with envy..that was the ONLY place on earth I ever wanted to be when I was a kid.)
When I saw the first video, I thought, "OH, holy shit, it's Fran Drescher!!"
I like this stuff, at least for the moment.
When I saw how her music is classified, it made better sense to me why it appealed to me. Punk pop, Dark pop, electropop, indietronica, and this one really grabbed my thoughts, witch house.
WHAAAAT?!
How do I not know about this?
So, now, I'm on a mission.
I totally have to play to my witch look since I missed getting cast as an elf in The Lord of the Rings..hahahahahah.
D&D players always told me I was an elf, my cheekbones could cut metal.
Everybody I know here sees me as some sort of witch, and NONE of them knows I have a pagan bone in my body. But, I reckon there are bits and pieces they have seen that lead them to believe this. No one at home really knows what any of my little accoutrements mean. But, they're more aware of this sort of thing in Britain.
I don't practice anything.
It's all just a bit of fancy dress, but I find it quite amusing.
Thanks to everyone who shared, I love the bones of you all!!

The Fran Drescher comment made me laugh out loud. Nice one! And, Witch House? New one on me.

Nice entry, Charlie. Had fun with this! ♡
