PR

"personal record"

My daughter has been training regularly with me in running. She has always run with me but mainly as an inconsistent activity that supplemented another team sport. That changed this summer.

She asked to do some trail races with me I told her it is a "work up to" it process and one that I would do with her. She has never done a mass start event like this and I explained the preparation and execution plans that I follow. We did our first and she smashed some personal "miles per minute" PR's for that distance. I was running at her max, but I was well below,so I just talked her through the tough parts and explained some of the philosophy for tackling the ups and downs of a race such as pacing and rabbiting.

She was so overjoyed, as I was, at the end of the race. A small part of me is really happy she reached out to me this way. Partly because I have spent a lot of the last year training my son for his sport. So I'm glad she found something I can be useful for her to accomplish a goal. I was so proud of her.
