12:14 PM - "I can't make you love me if you dont"
|
|
What do you do when you love someone and they wont reciprocate with the same feelings? When they tell you that they love you, but you know that they aren't 'in love' with you? There is a difference. A massive difference.
I guess I could listen to Morrissey for some kind of succour, but then I listen to him all the time anyway, so nothing changes.
I could listen to that song by Bonnie Raitt, "I Can't Make You Love Me" as that seems to sum up entirely how I feel about the situation. But it's too heartbreaking.
I could watch 'Les Enfants Du Paradis' as it remains cinema's greatest treatment of unrequited love. But it's too demanding when the heart is heavy.
Or I could watch 'Chasing Amy', one of modern cinema's truest depictions of the agony and confusion of love, and one of the most emotionally raw movies of recent times.
Or I could even immerse myself in a batch of trashy teen movies. The kind of things that usually star Hillary Duff, Elisha Cuthbert, Sarah Michelle Gellar or Alicia Silverstone. But those movies all tend to have happy endings.
So what do you do?
I guess it's a bottle of wine and Bonnie Raitt then. Funny how things go.
