  • Setlist was totally reworked. Daddy's Voice was back, favourably. Two encores, a Roxy Music cover, and First Of The Gang. Lot's of chocolate given to him. On with Oslo!

Now that gig in Brussels/ V festival... NO I will never succumb to that corporate cashcow rubbish that is V.

  • Hope he doesn't take this to V.

'If You Don't Like Me' is mediocre - starts off with some nice acoustic strumming, then loses all pretence to melody and starts to sound like a 'Southpaw Grammar' off-cut.

And why open with 'Daddy's Voice'? Morrissey can't honestly think it's any good can he? Seriously, 'Daddy's Voice' is abysmal in every sense - musically uninteresting (and rather foolishly compared to the Pixies by someone when there isn't an ounce of Pixies invention in the track) and lyrically shallow, just a few vaguely risky double entendres.

Seriously, when he could open with any of a stack of amazing songs, why revisit one of his worst efforts?

Overheavy on Ringleader too - Moz, face it, ROTT is average. Write a brilliant album to the standards of Vauxhall again and THEN playing most of it may be justified!

  • Definetely one of the best ever Moz gigs I've been to. The Swedish audience were very very appreciative - the applause when he only just got on stage after Jobriath was deafening! And it wouldn't stop!
Quite a few crowd surfers expecially on the 2nd night and maybe 4 got over the barrier and got a handshake.
The band were in blue and yellow "Swerige" t-shirts and you could tell that they were enjoying the gig big time. Gary and Boz were grinnig like mad.
    Loads of banter from Moz.
And ROTT sounds very very good live. The band is extemely tight. People who are not that keen on the album should go and see them live (well, it's getting a bit late now as there's only a handful of gigs left)- Believe me, once you've seen & heard it live you'll hear the album from a completely different perspective. Especially "Ganglord", "Father" and "Born" have grown into full-blown live monsters that rock like F***.
Chatted to a few swedish fans after the gigs and they were over the moon about the energy of these 2 gigs.
It obviously worked both ways: both Moz and the crowd were responsive and appreciative.
Great gigs. And to have a Roxy Music Cover "Street Life" was a great surprise.

He is such a great performer and he's got a great band behind him.
I've got nothing but my utmost appreciation for the man.

  • 2 encs on both nights. And the crowd definetely deserved them. Sweden loves Morrissey and Vice Versa.

  • Great Show (Score:1, Informative)

Just arrived at Oslo ready for tomorrow.

Last night was so good. He was in a good humour. Lots of Plop! been thrown at the stage and some letters and cds.

He made some comments about suicide being high statistically in Sweden and asked Julia is there was a link with that and YATQ and ROTT being released there. She said into the mic that the link is that people need to hear his songs and that they help people.

He introduced Pigsty by saying that some people had been lied to all they lives and that was quite funny and that no matter who you become.....the truth is life is a pigsty...

He asked after Father if it was horrible.

During the last songs, Firs of the gang he shaked many hands and said "Again?" to a man near me at the side who I think was from England and tried to reach over to give him the mic and and shook his hand.

Anyways, I am tired and need sleep to be ready for the next.

"Most of you are old enough to know this but some of you have been cheated and lied to all through your lives. It's doesnt matter who you are, or what you become or where you're at - Life is a Pigsty".

  • And to be honest I won't do it again! Without haing witnessed the show.

    Honestly Morrissey deems these two dates in Sweden worthy of, what seems to me who went to 9 gigs on the ROTT tour, a substantial change on consecutive nights relating to the setlist and rather than elucidating the variety contained in the aforementioned setlists, people just feel it worthy to gripe, insult and express their obvious joy in their wondrous command of English vocabulary;

Fuck this, fuck that, fuckyermother, motherfucker, fuckwit, fuckingalfafuckinfuckpence.

Anyway a big shout out to the Swedish Moz fans who have consistently been amongst the most underrated, yet appreciative Moz audiences. I'm really glad that he, and the band, obviously put on two storming shows for you.

  • lol, sounds like more intelligent lyrics...

So, that means we can actually leave a festival before your set and you won't mind, Morrissey?
"Morrissey: we put a lot of effort into driving away people who don't care all that much anyway. And we do that almost well."

Methinks somebody ought to buy a house in Suicidal Sweden...

Maybe I should just hope the setlist is going to be decent by the end of August...
