I´m back from the Jahrhunderthalle. I live about 10 minutes away from it.

First the facts: Small change in the setlist. "William" was replaced by "Work of art".

It was not sold out, but about 70 % full. Capacity of this venue is something around 3000.

Moz was in good mood, commented on this Living Icon election...

And he said "I´m proud to say that a Frankfurter sausage has never passed my lips and so it never shall. But I met some good folks here in Frankfurt."

It was the first time I had the chance to see him after all these years. I´m speechless yet, overwhelmed or whatever....

  • Just arrived back in Wiesbaden (30 minutes away from Frankfurt)from a perfect night with master MOZ. Now we know: He never had a Frankfurter between his lips. Yes, the Mozzer was talking a lot tonight. He had some news for Julia again and talked about his problems selling tickets to the folks in Munich. The Jahrhunderhalle is a perfect place for concerts. I never visited this place before - but very nice. After one night in Bremen (99´), two night in London (Royal Albert Hall 2002) and again London (Alexandra Palace 2006) this was the morrissy-solo gig number five on my list but I never had such a bad audience around me. Almost no "Mooorissey, Mooorissey, Mooorrissey" singing. Well, this is Frankfurt. To be honest: it sucks. Everything will be much better in Duesseldorf. Still wondering why he is not coming to Cologne? About the setlist: Almost the same as the nights before. This time: no William - but "Work of Art". Best songs: Well, of course every song was brilliant but I like the 2006 version of "Please, please..." a lot. Yeap, know I think about a trip to Duesseldorf. Just if somebody like to know it: I was the guy in the WEST HAM SHIRT - with MORRISSEY 31 on the back. Viva la Mozzer!

--- and when you try to break my spirit it won't work because there's nothing left to break anymore.
  • The beginning was great! "Panic" followed by "First of the gang" but there were too many "sing me to sleep songs" in the set. He didn't play "William" and instead of it he played "Work of art". Not a good choice, I'm truely disappointed!

  • Dreadful lyrics ('I see the world it makes me puke'), a weak melody, and a feeble, meandering guitar solo.
Whereas William is fantastic; a brilliant, zingy slice of genius pop.
    Please, Moz, stop this madness!

  • Hi,

does anyone know, what is the name of the girl (or the band) who played yesterday in Frankfurt before Morrissey? I really liked that! Her voice was excellent.
The Morrissey’s concert itself was very nice as well. I had a feeling that it has been graduated by each next song. The first song was terrible (although “Panic” is one of my favourite) – bad sound, bad voice, cold audience,… but the second half of the concert was very good. Morrissey did his standard. I was expecting a bit more. I did not feel the passion from his side yesterday, the feature which I feel from him usually very strong. But he stays the Nr 1 anyway. He just showed, he is just a human.

  • Morrissey was perfect. When he dealt with the audience: Brilliantly as we know him, but also spontaneously and ad least as communicative as on the 'M in Manchester'-picture. Joking on frankfurt sausages, imitating and answering on hecklers ("I sing, it isn't enough; I raise my hands, it isn't enough. If I kill myself, it's enough"), wondering about munich, where he didn't sell many cards (a guy from the audience: "I will be there"; Moz: "Ok, then we sold o n e!"). In his songs: Passionately, and furiously where he should be. Ok, there were one or two of the swlower songs that were too much, but some others were played loud and powerful, more than enough to cempensate that. Why one of the greatest Smith-Songs ('William') was replaced by one of the weakest Moz-Songs ('Work of Art') - if this is true - does nobody understand, but "Please, let me get what I want" could apologize this decision. Unfortunately, the frankfurt audience was not in a very good mood. The "Morrissey-Morrissey-Morrisse-ey"-singing did occur a few times, but was too silently and could not spread through the hall-but maybe this shows merely shyness, which is, as we know, nice. My first concert after 12 years of admiring was, altogether, the best thing I could expect.

  • I stink of booze, sweat and piss but wan´t it fucking amazing?

My hubby and me, we started our journey to Frankfurt at 1:00 pm. We arrived at the Jahrhunderthalle at 6:30 pm and belonged to the first 100 people on the standing area.
Kristeen Young started her "show" at 7:40 pm and when she left the stage an hour later our backs hurt terribly and we moved to the seating area on the balcony.
We had second row seats in the middle of the balcony area but the crowd was a mess.
Some people sang only the ROTT songs while other people didn´t even move one single muscle during the whole show.

Moz opend with Panic which was wonderful but the crowd didn´t seem to be very interested. The sound was pretty bad for the first 3 or 4 songs but got better and better with each following song. I can´t remember the right order of the setlist but luckily some nerd with big glasses, pen and paper did that job.

However, the man changed a few words and text passages. In YH Killed Me he sang "I entered no one and no one entered me" instead of "nothing", in Disappointed he sang "would rather die than have to sleep with you" instead of "touch you", IN IW see you in FO Places he changed "the hearts" into "the flesh to combine". There were some more text changes but at the moment I can´t quite remember.

When in Let Me Kiss You he came to "and then you open your eyes and you see someone that you physically despise" he slowly opened his shirt, dried his sweat with it and threw it into the crowd. The girls were screaming.

I went bonkers when I heard the first tunes of NF Disco. I jumped up, danced, sang and shouted.
This was the best gig I have ever been to.
The only stinkers were the bored and boring crowd (not all, but 80 % of them) and "the support act´s not short, it´s so long".
However, the crowd didn´t seem to understand him, even answered his question "would you like to live in the past?" with "yes"...I noticed many (too many) fat girls. This seems to be the deeper sense in "we are ugly but we have the music".

Until yesterday, I belonged to those people who didn´t like ROTT or listened to it since the first week after release. But now I know what those who say, "ROTT is a live album", really mean. The songs sound great. Wonderful. Beautiful. Passionate. Loud. But having experienced this wonderful sound miracle I am sure I will never listen to the studio album again.

This was an unforgettable night with wonderful music and an extremely talented band. My hopes and expectations were more than fulfilled.
Morrissey and th´lads could NOT have done it better. (If someome tells you something else, they lie!!!)
From 10 possible rating points I would give them 11.

My hubby and me were finally back at home at 5:45 am this morning but seeing Moz and the band in a perfect show was worth the long journey.

    It was fucking great.
Das war ein Mordsklopper, mein lieber Herr Gesangsverein.

Please, the ones who did go, share more! I'm avid to know more.

By the way, have you people noticed he´s now playing a whole 22 song set?
Does that translate into actually lenghtening the amount of time he's on stage?

The most songs I´d seen him do before mustabeen 18/19(maybe 20, but on very rare occasions )...and now he's doing a full 22 songs...Assuming each song must take an average of 5 min, the the seu would now be lasting an impressive 110 minutes?

  • That's what I'd call being short changed. Still, 'Daddy's Voice' is a fine set closer - and there are plenty of Smiths and solo classics there.

I'd love him to throw in a few more unexpected nuggets - a 'Mute Witness' here and a 'Handsome Devil' there; perhaps a few more Vauxhall or Southpaw Grammar songs. I've never heard him play 'The Operation' live - yet it sounds like it'd be one of his best live tunes.

  • This is a majestic set-list and I applaud Morrissey's bravery in electing to perform most of his latest album Ringleader of the Tormentors im full with a few choice selections from other classics such as Kill Uncle and Strangeways Here You Come.

I am a handsome man of about 49 (a lot of people say I look a bit like Morrissey) and, though I've taken my gaydar profile down due to the fact so many unattractive men stole my handsome picture and used it as their own, I am a very good-looking man, as many on this site and in pubs and toilets around London will testify.

What else can I say? I am happy to have so many fans on this site - I look forward to observing you at closer quarters during a Morrissey show perhaps?

I am slightly chubby (in a nice way) and usually wear pink floral shirts and matching socks. Search me out at a Morrissey show - you'll typically find me either at the bar (with my head on the bar...) or in the toilet, where I often hang out during the warm-up band's set and the first few Moz songs, looking for hard penises.

I see you always and ever.

  • Hi folks,
I`m glad I went to Frankfurt to see Mozzalini 7 years after his show in Cologne which to me really was a letdown. On Tuesday he was brilliant although his suggestion to forget about the past being only a nice place to visit is beyond a real music fan`s ability. we are only human that`s the problem. I really longed for "William" but it was replaced by "Work of Art" which is my favourite track on the new album. I never thought Morrissey would be the one to show that still in 2006 it is possible to play a set longer than bleak 70 minutes. I`m glad I went! The pre-show video clips are worth waiting for the crew to set up the gear. Well planned, well done. Thanks, Klaudrey

  • Me and my friends arrived in cold Frankfurt from Portugal in the morning of the gig, the venue was, and is very nice, with a very useful restaurant area inside also.
We managed to stay up front but in the right, facing the sound collumns, I was the one wearing a blue shirt with Morrissey spelled in the chest.
The crowd wasn't that bad, (Germany is not UK)people weren´t really jumping around, in my area I was the only one :p, but the crowd enjoyed the show....
Kristeen Young has some interesting songs, I belive she tryes to aproach sweet Polly Jean Harvey, but she's far away from her.... she has also a terrible taste in shoes :p
Regarding Morrissey, he is surelly in an excelent physical form, the years pass, but the set lists get bigger and bigger (this was I believe the longest moz concert I've attended...
The Highlights of is performance would have to be National Front Disco, and Please, Please... ,simply got crazy when listenning to them...
Nice joke he made regarding the "cheap" cigar he was presented with :)
Only sad because he could not reach the area were I was, to much on the right :(
Really hope to see Herr Morrissey again in a near future...

Since I missed Chicago(with tickets in hand) I determined to see a show this year. What a better way to spend time off work than go to Germany!
