..was the same as Frankfurt (even the same order I think). He just switched back to William instead of Work Of Art.

It was quite easy to get to the front since the venue (the Zenith is awful) wasnt sold out and people weren't too enthusiastic :-(. Munich audiences are difficult to please.

Kristeen Young was absolutely brilliant. Can't wait for her album to come out.

    CLOTHING
(Is anyone actually really interested in this, I wonder) The boys in white shirts with black bowties. The man came out in four shirts. The first was pale orange (with a grey tie) and was changed behind the stage into a black one. This in turn was ripped open by Moz while singing "and you see someone that you physically despise" and thrown into the crowd. Afterwards another black one and a plain white one for the encore.

    LYRIC CHANGES
I'm sure there were a couple of minor ones; what I remember is in YHKM Moz singing "Pasolini is" (pointing to his picture on the backdrop "he / Mozalini I'm bound to be"; in William "and Lord knows I'm trying to live mine - it's impossible" as well as the already reported "let me have who I want this time".

    IN-BETWEEN BANTER
Exceptionally rich, I thought. I begin with the most touching moment:
    - "In my life, I've never had romance" (pitying noises from the
audience) "I can live with that, I've survived. So I've never been in the situation where you love someone and they love you back. I've heard of people and I know it exists, but not for me. However pathetically, at the age of 47 I still live in hope. What I do have in my life, however, is my little songs, and this next one is called Let Me Kiss You."
    - "Behind me and beside me five exceptional women" (introducing the band, which happened four songs into the set) "and that was it, goodnight and goodbye".
    - (after tremendous applause for William) "Why do you clap?? No, I'm just being silly, for a change."
    - "Thank you opera fans. You realize this is opera? It's always been."
    - (after inaudible exchange with a front-row fan) "So you're trying to be nice? I thought you were going to hit me. Some people do."
    - "Welcome to a very very dangerous evening. If you get too close, you'll get bitten."
    - (before Far-off Places) "Of course, politically the world is in a total mess. What the heck, who cares - I don't. No, I do."
    - (before NF Disco) "This next song was originally written and performed by Diana Ross and the Supremes - Maestro, please!"
    - "This song was off our latest thingy called Ringleader of the Tormentors which in Germany as well as in Spain received three and a half stars. Not four, not five but three and a half. Not good enough for four, not good enough for five, just three and a half. Naughty boy."
    - "These songs are full of meaning, Meaning, MEANING."
    - "When you drive home tonight, be careful. Don't run over any pussycat. And don't run over any British singer. But if you have to run over either one, make sure you choose the British singer."

    WHAT ELSE
Attendance wasn't as bad as expected after the Mozfather's comments in Frankfurt the night before. Capacity of the venue is an estimated 2,000 and the hall was about 4/5 full. Moz and the boys really seemed to be very relaxed and enjoying themselves on stage. All in all, nothing less than perfect. It really makes no sense to pick out highlights, there's just too many. I think he's really treating us to something this time round, the Set works beautifully and it's very transparent that the boys spent the better part of this year playing together. Okay, if I have to: the re-inclusion of William, the heartwrenching version of Changed My Plea and Mr Farrell's solo making up for Marr's mandolin at the end of Please Please Please.

Thanks man, you couldn't have done better tonight.

  • is as always a lot more boring than the British. As well - there was quite a bunch of assholes there. well, it's Munich, what did I expect. the venue was really awful. the service was so slow, I wonder why they didn't check some experienced Oktoberfest guys.

but the show was pretty good. I liked the setlist, the crowd reaction was a bit dull but oh well, I guess a lot of people just knew the two last records! the only thing: compared to manchester in spring or even glasgow last year, his voice didn't sound too good and sometimes not loud enough when he hit the high notes!

  • I still have a weak head as we had some euphoric beers after that perfect evening with the Mozfather. I try my best...

This was my fourth live show with M and in a way the best as it was so easy to come close and see every movement and facial expression. Also he spoke a lot and had heaps of interaction with the fans. It was a very intriguing and close experience, where one had the feeling of being really into it rather than just being part of a massive crowd.

The show itself was perfect and big cinema. Moz at its best with a variety of Smiths classics, on the way highlights and latest pearls. I loved every piece. In the first third of the show he was soooo funny, not with words but in his gestures. I had some good laughs. In the middle part he went right under the skin with his intense music, personality and speeches. Finally the last third was full of slow numbers beautifully emotionally sung and contrasted by heavy drumplay and guitarwork, also brass and piano notes.

The venue is known as quite shitty and with bad acoustics. However a good third of the back was shut down by a curtain and as people were less you could easily stand in the middle where acoustics were quite reasonable. Light show was brilliant, low levelled but very effective.

Altogether a perfect evening for me personally to hold in my heart forever. The benchmark for the deepest and most touching artist in this days music. Thank you Morrissey!

    MozConcerts I was in:
    1992 Düsseldorf, Philipshalle
    2004 London, RFH
    2006 Salzburg, Frequency Festival
    2006 Munich, Zenith

And for all those complaining about dull Munich people and audience: it was YOU!

  • In addition to those wonderful comments by "freestyler" and the anonymous "Munich rocked"-commentary, I can only say that it was the best Morrissey concert I ever had the privilege to attend! I can by no means understand how anybody has the nerve to complain about the audience, the venue or anything else, as this show was about as close to perfect as can be.
I have been to Morrissey concerts in Düsseldorf ('92), Santa Barbara ('99), Royal Albert Hall ('02) and Manchester ('06), but yesterday's show was pure and essential Morrissey at his very best. The sound and songs have never before been more precise, powerful and emotional. Moz and the band seemed to have totally enjoyed the night - believe me, I have been to enough shows to be able to compare. All I can say is that it was a privilege to have witnessed an outstanding evening that made my jaw drop again and again. Thank you Morrissey, and thank you guys in the audience who shared this with me.

  • This was my first time seeing Morrissey ever, and it was amazing.
I don't think the audience was all that bad, other than the guy snatching the setlist from us, which was mean as he was with a group of people who'd seen Morrissey 50 times, so probably owned a ton of setlists anyway.
And the people spoilering on the setlist. I don't like knowing setlists pre-show.

  • Many of the pre-show videos shown yesterday are mentioned at http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t= 65355/URL [morrissey-solo.com], but does anybody possibly know something about the kind of funny italian(?) video with a male singer who was appearing in many different outfits? I think it was at the beginning...

  • After Amsterdam and Paris, Munich was the third Morrissey show in 2006. And I only can say it was a truly fantastic great concert. I am sure to see him so close, only a few meters away will be for a lot of people a everlasting moment.
And for all manic complainers out there, it’s true there are better venues than Zenith, but I enjoyed that a hundred times more than all this alls this sport arenas and high-tech venue like for example the Heineken Music Hall. These are dead places, no soul, no atmosphere, and not even the ugly charm of an old industrial building like zenith. Hey a few times the stages reminds me of old pictures from Smiths concerts in the middle eighties.

----Maybe it was only in my head----

And yes maybe there is a better or let’s say more enthusiastic audience in UK - otherwise it would be a shame for the British fans –but the crowd really enjoyed the show and I don´t think that only a little Morrissey Morrissey Morrissey singing like watching football, the missing of stage invading , throwing flowers is an indication for a good and a bad audience. We all didn´t sat at home watching old times concert videos…… it was live, it was yesterday and it was fucking great in munich.

    Thank you Morrissey

    Thank you, handclapping-I-love-you-yelling peoples

    A last question:
Does anybody know how many have been there. I know that the sold out capacity Zenith is around 7000, so I guess all in all we have been 4500?
    Anonymous -- Thursday December 14 2006, @10:12AM (#243331)
  • Both of these annoying breeds are starting to frequent Morrissey gigs. The set-list spoiler takes great delight in telling everyone around them what the next song is before then joining in singing (often out of tune and hilariously the wrong words). The chattering idiot knows five songs on the set-list and then basically talks all the way through the rest of the concert particulary during the QUIET, EVOCATIVE songs such as Dear God please help me and even worse, I'VE CHANGED MY PLEA TO GUILTY. Do your best to avoid such ungrateful beings on this tour. It shouldn't be that hard as they normally stand right NEXT TO ME.

  • Moz and the band arrived in a silver VW (Volkswagen) van 5 Minutes prior to the show!
we were wondering at first why the gates left of the stage suddenly opened, but soon we realized what was going on.

It was really strange seeing them waiting in that small car.
    It's not that glamorous,is it?

When the movie finished, they came out,
hugging each other, made a circle and went on to the stage...

They also left the hall in the middle of
the applause like if they don't care...

However, a fantastic show...much better than RockImPark and Roskilde
