He's Passable (Score:1)
I was a bit nervous about the man's mood, seeing as how this concert was taking place in a casino, in a two-horse town whose population is not much more than that of Madison Square Garden. No worries! The banter and energy for the entire evening was unbeatable. At one point early in the set, Moz touched his finger to his cheek and made a hissing sound, as though he were sizzling (I don't know if much of the audience caught this one.) Other banter highlights included several instances of audience participation: he handed the mic to a girl up front early in the set and asked "Do you want to ask me something? Were am I?" She replied, "Sparks, Nevada. How are you?" "I'm passable," said Morrissey, to eruptive applause.
The above comments regarding the acoustics are spot-on, and I would add a remark or two about his voice. He is in fine form! I watched/listened to the recent Kimmel show clip in horror, and can happily say that his voice last night bore no resemblence to that youtube segment. All of the vocal flourishes in "Boy with a Thorn," "Youngest Was the Most Loved" and others were on-key and as effusive as ever.
I think anyone at the show who has followed Moz's career must have had at least some anxiety about his mood for a concert at this type of locale. He was chatty and almost, um, happy. My shirt count was four (I think--the end of the show was a blur of remarkable performances) and toward the end of the concert (I cannot recall which song) Morrissey stood shirtless for a minute or so...to more rapturous cheering.
Watching a Morrissey show in the company of Reno coctail waitresses is an experience I shall never forget. None of the girls I talked to before the show seemed to know who he was, and by the end of night all of them were standing out in the audience, trays put away, mouths agape at what was going on here (huge crowd noise, at least 5 or 6 stage invaders.) It was my first glimpse, 25+ years into this man's career, at the impact he can have on the uninitiated. Morrissey has not lost a step.
Finally, a kind word to our table of strangers at 285! Three of us spent the entire show dancing, and a fourth ended up (briefly) on stage (nice head fake to the security guard, dude.)
Dear God, please send him back to us. I shall keep asking you.

We got the shirt and the hand! (Score:1)
The most incredible concert and viewing of Moz ever. I brought my California car plate "MOZ CAT" and held it high for him to see. He grabbed my hand and held on for 5 seconds. All this while Stuart was slicing his sweaty shirt that Moz threw to the front rowers and 10 men fighting over it and pulling it for over 10 minutes. Pieces of his dark green shirt were shared amongst 10 or more people.
I've never been to a show where afterwards, strangers were hugging each other because of the incredible energy and awe that we all felt, forever lasting.
