  • fantastic set & he was in good spirits, makes me feel good for the next couple of shows. I do wonder if he will do 'boy with a thorn' the next couple of shows. It seemed to be the only tune he had any trouble with.

  • He came out and said, "By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept" - clearly in reference to MSG as well as the novel. He later joked that he hadn't had the flu; that the poison from Fox News had seeped into his system... He talked about the Letterman show - called him David Butterball and said how he hadn't seen any of the spare rib segment but that if he had he would have wept bitterly, "but done nothing about it" which made people laugh. He asked a couple times if he sounded OK and the crowd responded enthusiastically. The crowd was up for it - although not going nuts, which I think he missed. Two people made it on stage briefly and he clearly wanted more people to try. The band was fantastic - high energy and really together. Fantastic, fantastic show!!!

  • I saw only two--somebody who made a mad dash during "How Soon Is Now" and got pretty brutally tackled stage left, and a timid girl during the "You're Gonna Need" encore who looks like she kind of froze once she got up there. Needless to say she was shooed away without getting within a dozen feet of The Man.

The stage was only about chest-height, and the pit area had folding chairs. Why didn't more people jump up?

  • After losing his voice, he dropped from 21 songs planned in Boston to 19 in Vienna. I wonder if he is going to stick at 19 or if he will move it up as he gets more confidence in his voice and that he will be able to keep it for the rest of the tour.

  • This was my first Morrissey show and I really enjoyed it! I wish I could go to Baltimore. Not much else unique to be said; he didn't have any trace of being sick (it must have been due to his new lungs). He also didn't like the name "Wolf Trap," nor Bush.

For me, Life is a Pigsty was noticeably left out of the setlist. A couple of stage-invader attempts, but the security was big and brutal. I think that may have annoyed him some. Does anyone know what was handed to him ("Is that a picture of you?").

  • Moz joked about being sick, saying it was the poison coming from Fox News (he took another jab at Faux when he sang "Fox News hands them stardom" in Last of the Famous).

He said Wolf Trap shouldn't be called Wolf Trap. He offered Bush Trap as a good alternative.

He said that the meat on David Letterman was an unwelcome surprise. He said something like "Letterman's ribs...not his actual ribs, sadly."

No real stage invasions, though it looked so easy (the stage was so low, and people in the pit were just pushing up to it). One guy did get on, and he got viciously treated. Security grabbed him, slammed him into the stage, choked him and yelled at him, and then dragged him away.

All in all, great show. Moz is back.

  • The setlist provided above in the thread is correct but you must switch "1st of the Gang" and "Grow up"

He spoke to the crowd between every song....has he ever done that before?

Only one shirt left the stage...but he wore three(cheat)

He started sounding a bit gravely during "Kiss" and into "Girlfriend" but rebounded quite nicely.

I saw the Smiths three times and I have seen Morrissey countless times and I am devoutly a "Smiths first" fan but, THIS is the best band he has EVER played with....sorry I won't hear your argument.

I wasn't really looking forward to hearing either but "How Soon Is Now" & "Please, Please, Please" were other-worldly!

As a long time fan and a singer myself, I'd be worried about him finishing this tour. I have tix for tomorrow night and I'm really not sure. Don't misread, he was truly awesome tonight and a five star trooper for pulling it together but, I heard things....and the number of apologies....I just wouldn't take tonights success as a dead cert for the remainder.

  • Come on, folks. During HSIN I jump onstage assured that others would follow but apparently no one did save for some girl who got shooed away. Meanwhile, I'm just now regaining my voice after being choked by the vile "security" detail.

Why are DC crowds so demure and subdued?

I missed the encore, obviously, but enjoyed the show quite a lot.
    Cheers

  • I posted video first this time because it is just that good. I figured he'd be talkative. There is a great band intro, a nice comment from Julia, and best of all him calling letterman "David Butterball" in retaliation for Letterman's inappropriate "ribbing". My pics are great too and will post next.

  • He was really happy tonight. As far as his mood is concerned, this was his best show since Chicago last November. My husband agreed that Morrissey seemed in really good spirits. At one point Morrissey said that he suspected our adoration was just sympathy, but that he'd accept it anyway. Hee. :D

The crowd, while polite, exuded so much love for him that at one point he actually said, "Wow." He received many gifts, including one from me. He mouthed the words "Thank you, thank you" to us and he seemed to have emotional eyes like he was touched.

He held my hand at one point. I thought I'd die. Twenty years of adoration finally paid off. His grip is so firm, like he MEANS it. I'll never get over it. I love this man.

He talked to us a lot. His tone was conversational. He seemed to feel really comfortable with this crowd.

His voice sounded surprisingly good. It wasn't 100%, but it was still beautiful. He didn't have that Kermit the Frog voice that I've heard him get in the past when he's been recovering from a respiratory infection. His voice was mostly smooth with only a hint of rasp on a couple of songs.

I met Kristeen after her set. She was very nice. She signed an autograph for my daughter.

I'm a bit too overwhelmed to say more at this point. I must sleep. This has been one of the best nights of my life. Oh... Morrissey. He means so much to me. *sigh*

  • There must be something in the air, since I was in row HH, got nowhere near the man, and I'm losing my voice the day after the concert--sore throat, cough, etc!

This is my second Moz show, though I've been a fan for more than 13 years...the last one was DAR Constitution Hall. Terrible venue, Nasty 'security' guards screaming at us to leave the second he left the stage, and an unenthusiastic crowd.

This show was INCREDIBLE! Did anyone see me with the tears streaming down my face during 'Everyday is Like Sunday' and dancing like a madwoman during 'How Soon is Now'? I was also singing enthusiastically along to The Last of the...Playboys, etc. AWESOME Show! No wonder he lost his voice, he sang his heart out last night!

  • I snuck in my camera with ease. There was a security guard right behind me and I snapped over 20 pictures and he said nothing. The pics turned out pretty good because I was very close. I had a seat in row T but moved all the way up to the front row of orchestra. When the lights went down I hopped over the wall into the pit and climbed over chairs and got in the very front row. Once I get home I'll share all the pictures of course.

Some people were complaining that his voice was a bit off, but he sounded fine to me. I was very suprised to learn that he had fell ill again and more shows were cancelled.

When I got inside the venue the next day in Baltimore I saw how tiny it was and was way bummed out.

I am not one to give praise when it is due, but 'that's how people grow up' is a cool song.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
