  • Moz opened with "Jack The Ripper". Also played crashing bores. Nice performance, played 6, count em' 6 Smiths songs!!!

Stop me, Boy with the Thorn, Death of a Disco, Stretch Out, Last Night I Dreamt, and of course a nice healthy bowl of "HSIN".

Some of the dialogue I can remember:

"To the person who has been holding up the 'Southpaw' sign for the past...five years! (crowd applauses): It was a beautiful song but...nobody is nice enough to play it."

Also stopped near the end of "That's How People Grow Up" because of "mike" problems:

"No...no...no. Stop. This is horrible. The sound is horrible, I can't hear myself. You do agree don't you? Don't you? You do don't you?"

My testicles raised into my abdomen as I thought we were going to have another San Diego "MELTDOWN". But luckily the sound guy put down his $30 mixed drink and fixed it. That or Moz stopped "jaking" it. Either way, the show went on.

Large crowd of surfers during "The First of the Gang".

Also, he mumbled quite a bit whenever somebody was shaking his hand during the songs. He gave out alot of "shakes".

Best thing is, you clones finally took my advice and bathed last night. Good for you! I finally breathed in that musty Palladium funk, a welcome change to the Garlic bread circling the venue the past week and a half.

"The Bjork Identity" had what seemed like a shorter set than usual.

    Moz, knock them out tomorrow.

  • but I didn't think the show was that great. It started off great, but fell flat about half way through when Moz became noticeably irritated with sound/mic issues. And what was with Last Night I Dreamt? That had to be one of the most abrubt endings I have ever witnessed. I mean he barely made it through the second verse. And the sound didn't seem to be that bad at all during that song? He just kind of, dropped the mic and walked away.

Im harmless, geez, they pushed and "shoved" me around, it was bad, this was during the last song...then EVERYONE went for it, it got CRAZY..I got a short clip I'll post later, this dude's ass actually landed on top of securities head..hilarious, but looked quite dangerous. Im so disappointed, Ive waited 15years to touch the man..there has to be a better way! Im so happy he acknowledged my "viva moz" sign
and the girl right next to me on the rails was the one holding the "please sing southpaw" guess she wont be getting her req soon, thanks to the guy who helped get over the rails!! didnt catch his name

  • For me, this was the BEST Palladium show so far although I’m certain Morrissey would beg to differ. The night started off with a brand, spankin’ new song for all of 2007 (to the best of my knowledge) – Jack the Ripper. Totally fantabulous! Completely set the tone for a stellar show. Tonight I had my best position so far, 2nd row Farrell-side.

Crashing Bores was a welcomed new addition as well. The set was rolling along quite nicely. Moz appeared to be in good spirits, was ever so charming, chatty and sounded amazing. Loved Disco Dancer … even did the falsetto-y “in the next world” part at the end. THEN about 2/3’s into the set the unexpected happened … the opening piano notes of “Last Night I Dreamt …” Goosebumps people!!! Unfortunately this is where the sound trouble began. I forget exactly where in the song (it was toward the end), Moz stopped singing. He turned his back to the crowd and did that signature Moz-move (backlit, weight on one foot while rocking the other, head to one side). Didn’t ruin the song one bit for any of us but I think we were all holding our breath a little.

Paris went off without a hitch. Potential train wreck happened during Grow Up where he shut the song down entirely mid-way thru. He was having monitoring problems – couldn’t hear himself properly. What he couldn’t’ know is that he sounded amazing to all of us. You don’t sing for as many years as he’s been doing it without being close to pitch-perfect. I’m sure every singer has his off nights, Moz included, but this wasn’t one of them. I know he was holding back because he couldn’t hear himself but he really didn’t need to. He sounded spot on.

At this point I think we were all turning blue in the face, crossing our fingers that he wouldn’t call it a night. And then … he didn’t!

IBEH became a big ol’ sing-along which I think inspired him a bit. Playboyz was back which is another huge sing-along. At this point I think he finally adopted that F#$%-it attitude and just let us do all the high-notes for him. He looked relaxed, happy even despite it all and everyone was having a good time.

Ok, back to Cloud 9 for me … I’ve been waving this rolled-up poster I made for the Palladium shows with a blue bow on it for the past two shows. My new friend Alex made me realize it was looking like a U. of Palladium diploma. No good. My other good friend E. let me slip in at the rail for the encore. I unrolled the poster to make it fully visible. While Moz & th’Lads came out for their bow, M noticed my poster & made a face. He came over and asked “For me?” and took it. OMG … mission accomplished! I swear I feel like I’m 18 years old again I’m so stupidly happy.

First of the Gang encore had many, many crowd surfers make their way to the moat. Melanie had her BEST shot yet with a nice healthy handshake which I was happy for. 3-mile smiles all around, Moz included.

I’m sure he wished he’d had a better show but sometimes it’s the imperfect ones that are more endearing, more memorable, more charming and for this girl it’s given me a night I’ll never forget.

Unfortunately I can’t make to tomorrow night. I’m sure you guys will make me feel like I’m (almost) there in your reviews.

    See you Saturday!!

Happy he finally took my As You Like It book. Hopefully he'll find where I marked and what I wrote funny. He also took Elaine's Elvis calendar and Diane's poster. She made a fantastic poster by the way.

Went out to Cat and Fiddle afterwards, but no Moz in sight. Oh well, enough said.

Great show today, got to hear Jack The Ripper sound checked a few times then to open. Absolutely amazing. It was also the roughest I've seen the encore so far. What a fun night.

  • Aside from my first time, and the intimacy of Reno....This was the best of 15 years worth of Moz shows I have gone to!!!!..... In under an hour he played an onslaught of the songs that have touched me the most. I felt 16 again, lying on the floor in my room, staring at the ceiling, disecting The Queen Is Dead, set to "repeat" on my ghetto Blaster. ---

Due to the line at Will Call, I missed "Jack The Ripper", and didnt see the actual stage until "Sister Im a poet". But, from that moment - through to "Throwing My Arms Around Paris" I was truly dazed and in awe!

The feelings came back and I nearly drowned under them. I left during Paris because, Inside I knew I just could not handle any more NEW Moz. I was full.

My ears and arms will be ready, wide to receive when the new album ..."Drops".. but tonight, ...tonight was perfect. I knew "when" to say "when"...Thank you Morrissey - Again.

  • My post-show vent: to the big (in circumference and height) guy to the right side of the stage who kept shoving and pushing all of us (and the friend of his who wouldn't stop his **** friend)- get thee to a confessional for all your lies that "it isn't [you] pushing" and profusely and fakely apologizing. (Couldn't you just say 'you needed to get to your sister?'.... or get your ass there earlier like other decent people.) He had a 5 foot empty chasm behind him and was shoving his arms and belly at everyone in front of him. Took up way too much of my oxygen. He didn't even know all the words and was singing the songs wrong. But back to my point...

For your sake, sir, get thee to a confessional for lying out your *** hundreds of times to all of us around you tonight. For our sake, stay there till Sunday! (Who has the key? *click* Walk away!)

    ----
Other stuff... Kristeen told the tech Baby Jeff's monitor was out so this might've been the same monitor that threw off Moz.

    ----
Sorry my post is so negative tonight. I usually let it all settle first, but Mr. Big (not) was such an f'up and got in the way of so many of us trying to enjoy the show. I'm looking forward to reading more positive stuff from people who were less distracted.
    ----
    The miracle moment was:
Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me. The English woman next to me cried... She and her husband said that it's never been played before.

Kristeen and the audience are also finally beginning to meld nicely. You are truly beautiful, Kristeen.
And Jesse just gets hotter and hotter every night! A funny moment was when Boz came around during the reverb of HSIN and checked out Jesse and then the keyboardist (Mike Farrell?) like a drilling music teacher, watching, inspecting, moving on after approval. The moment before, Boz also had his fun doing Hendrix tricks with the mic stand and his own guitar.

ok, that's it for now... zzzz...

Jack the Ripper/Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me...it was sure worth all the money I have spent, so far. I was caught up in the front where everyone charged the stage during The First of the Gang to Die. I suppose it would truly be difficult for security guards to hold back 3000 obsessed fans. • Ok, Moz has been more than great at all of the Hollywood shows, but I wish that people would be a bit more respectful toward thier fellow fans. We are all there for the same reason so don't be an ass and try to elbow your way closer to the stage. The fights have been ridiculous due to this. A few tips...

1)if you are gonna be singing out loud with Moz and being that close to people, pop a mint...it won't kill ya

2)girls- if you shave your arms, do it relatively close to the concert. I have burns all over my arm from girls rubbing up on me from thier arm stubble.

    3) use deodorant

    4) Just be respectful to those around you. I would hate for Morrissey to stop a show becuse people are acting stupid and fighting.

    Thanks!

  • I hate midgets and giants. If you were on the right side of the stage, you know what i am talking about. All those stupid little midget girls that pushed there way to the front, then had total disrespect for everyone around them. If that wasn't bad enough, as commented above, the stupid giant who was obviously drunk, pushing his way through people while saying "im sorry, its not me." B.S. If that wasn't bad enough, he was singing the songs, and didnt even know the words to Last of the famous international playboys...WTF! If you are going to push your way to the front, please respect people around you who had the decency to get their early and earned their spot up front. oh yeah, and holy shit, all the cameras being held in the air, jesus, let the people behind you see the show too! Moz was great, awesome setlist, lame L.A. crowd as usual. Energy was great, but lame people suck!

  • 1. be overweight.

    2. make sure you are extra sweaty and you have the "wet look", sort of like a walrus.

    3. say things like "have you seen my girlfriend?" or "my girl wants to get on stage!" to confuse us into thinking that you really have a girlfriend.

    4. start smoking a cigarette! everyone loves a smoker, especially in close quarters.

    5. bend over and push your fat ass back to make room.

    6. throw your midget hands up in the air like you don't care!

    7. apply more pomade to help "slip" threw the cracks.

    8. tell everyone you are a BIG fan and that you just "have to".

    9. make sure you have the funk... or was that burnt ham in your pants?

    10. just be your usual disgusting self!

BONUS - take hundreds of really "cool" blurry pictures. those are going to be so good when you upload them. great job!

  • After the Imperfect List, Moz came out and announced that it was "a pre-dawn raid". He was wearing an attractive (slate-blue?) shirt with dark trousers. Th'Lads were dressed in what I call the ice-cream man uniforms -- brown trousers, matching vests, and bow-ties over white shirts (either rolled up sleeves or short sleeves, I think). Moz later declared the obvious: We (the audience) were here again for our "FIX".

Forgot to mention that on Monday, when Moz came out, he gave us all in the front row quizzical looks like "You, again?!" and then pretended to machine gun us. Ah, you have killed me, Moz!

It certainly was ballsy of Moz do open with Jack the Rrrrrr. It's a great song, of course, and one that many wanted to hear live again, but as a slower-paced song, it was very risky to use as an opener...but it worked fabulously!

Moz did a lot of funny adlibs not normally done. During P'Boys, he didn't sing "International" as usual and lets everyone else sing it, but he also dropped "Such things I do, just to make myself more attractive to you. Have I failed?" and let the audience belt it out instead. After we sang, "Have I failed?" in response Moz yelled, "YES!"

He's been subtly changing lyrics to One Day Good-Bye.... and other new songs. I think he sang something slightly different from "tiny children will tell you that you smell". And I think instead of singing "When I die, I'm going straight to Hell" it sounded like "I wanna go to Hell" to me.

Sang "Manchester blood in my veins" during Stretch.

After The Loop Moz joked he didn't actually have a phone. Well, I guess by all means call him, then!

I showed Moz my nasty cracker jack tattoo when he sang "Crashing Bores" during the "uniformed whore" bit, and he whipped his head away like that little girl in the Stop Me viddy. Heh heh. But he was kind enough to come over and touch my hand during I Like Yuh. Moz was fairly sparing with the hand contact until the encore madness.

In case, you didn't get BOYRACER76's quote, the Palladium went especially mad with stage invasions when Moz yelled, "I have to save my people!" as he reached out and grabbed a crowd surfer's hand while said crowd surfer was tussling mightily with security.

  • Here's a link to video recording of ONE DAY GOODBYE WILL BE FAREWELL. The picture is horrible, but the sound is decent. I recorded it in the back of the Palladium so I could get the full sound captured. I promised some of you that I'd post this up - sorry for the delay. I've had problems uploading this on to both YouTube and MySpace due to the file size. I had to resort to uploading this on Rapidshare.com

    http://rapidshare.com/files/62136895/Goodbye-Farew ell-Morrissey.mov.html

    -Cut and paste this URL
    -Select the FREE button
    _Download the file

Because it's free, I think there's only a limited number of times this can be downloaded.

I can't wait until he gets a record deal so he can release a studio version of this excellent song!!

  • Digital Audio Taped this one, and glad i did. haven't heard Jack The Ripper since 2002!

-Last Of The Famous seemed a tad bit slowed down this leg, just like Please Please Please seemed slower than the Hollywood Bowl/Riverside/Pasadena shows

-SHAME he stopped Last Night I Dreamt - he didnt sound off at all to me, not sure why he couldn't hear the music...eerie reminder of San Diego 6/3/07

  • the energy of this show was like the hight of Beatlemania. fucking insane.

i was about 3-4 rows back on Mikey's side and i don't think i was able to keep my balance for more than a few seconds at a time.

i was in the zone until a sweaty pig woman was using my shoulder as support as she pogo'd and whipped her sweaty hair in my face, killing the mood.

then they did Death Of A Disco Dancer, a song i've always hated, therefore will not sing along to.
i swear Morrissey made eye contact with me the whole time, which made me feel a little guilty :0

the encore, was as nuts as everyone says. when he tossed the black shirt, it landed RIGHT in my hand, jointly held by about four more people. i had it by the sleeve seem at the shoulder...with a mighty tug i ripped it *almost* off, when suddenly the world went black and i felt myself crushed under the weight of 30 people, with about as many under me. i still had that fucking shirt, with blood oozing out from under my fingernails. when i finally could stand up, there's a guy frantically punching the shit out of people on top of him. "he'll make it" i think to myself and continue the tug of war. then i see a girl PASSED THE FUCK OUT under about five guys and finally my stupid human compassion gets the better of me and i let go and started helping people up. some guys carried the unconscious girl off, were she was probably given some hot coco and got a private meeting with Morrissey where he gave her his pants- autographed.

so, to that girl who got flattened...i hope you're happy for making me loose that shirt. goddamnit.

  • Okay I know im only 5'4 but there were too many damn tall people. It kinda made me upset when someone taller than me moves right in front of me and just stands there when morrissey performs. Hello i was dancing. But the show overall was awesome. He played some of my favorite songs but i wish he played the New York Dolls cover of "Human Being". Jesse Tobias and Mikey Farrell were awesome and also Bozzy Moz (my name for Boz Boorer).
