  • Wow this was by far the best show of the 4 nights i attended at hammerstein ballroom. Interesting drug being about the best surprise i could ask for along with good looking man about town (a real favorite of mine and i think a very underrated song). Moz was in great form, the band was tight and i actually really enjoyed being in the 2nd mezz believe it or not. I was on the floor for the other nights i went and while i admit there is a real charm to being there in the thick of it, the front section of the 2nd mezz was possibly even more enjoyable for me (lots of room to dance and i had a perfect clear view of the entire stage, unlike the nights on the floor where i desperatly stretched my neck to get a slight glimpse of Moz) Anyway, overall this show was my hands down favorite Moz show i have seen so far in my life. What a way to end the 5 night stand. Simply brilliant.

  • I just added 2 videos on Youtube from tonight.
1 of Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself, and 1 of Sister, I'm A Poet.
The audio is absolutely amazing, so please check them out, please comment on them, and please enjoy them.
I saw Moz on Monday and Sunday, and I thought he was amazing both nights.
    I'm so happy tonight.
I even tried to jump on the stage off the barricade but only landed my chest on there before getting tossed by a bouncer.
It was all in good fun.
    Moz has still got it!!!

  • Great show, I still prefer the first night but "Interesting drug" and "Girlfriend in a coma" where great, it was a moron with a Ramones t-shirt next to me that was bothering everybody around, after "Shoplifters... " finally got kicked out by the people.
I wish he played 8 nights like L.A. I hope he does it on the next tour.
People where great singing along and dancing good for New Yorkers!!!.

  • Best of the 3 nights that I have been to. Morrissey and the guys were wearing the dark denim combo, very nice. Amazing setlist tonight, I thought I was hearing things when they started to play Interesting Drug. There was a lot of really happy people around me singing their hearts out, me included. He also sang Human Being and Good Looking Man which was a total suprise. Gave the mike to somebody and asked for a question, the guy said "so how many concerts have you done now? Moz loked at him and said " you should know you've been to all of them" Then he gave the mike to another guy who in a very clear voice said "I just wanted you to know, and I speak for everyone here, you sound FUCKING AMAZING" Everyone cheered and Morissey had this cheeky little smile on his face. Couldn't have put it better myself. Someone threw a baby seal toy up onto the stage and he looked at it but didn't pick it up. He got a James Dean LP "Giant" and a nice bunch of flowers that went back into the crowd. Went for a shirt change and came back out with a blue one on and this one ended up in the crowd. At one point I think they changed the setlist, because Morrissey walked around and spoke to the band, one by one. I think this was definitely the wildest encore of the 3. I started to video it but about 30 seconds in people were just vaulting over everyone in the crowd and I ended up bent down near the floor. There was a constant stream of crowd surfers and one girl got right up on stage. One guy was heavily manhandled off the stage, it didn't look too good. I couldn't breathe, was totally crushed, but it was great and I'm still smiling now. The t-shirt came off, and came down right beside me, but it disappeared from view in about 2 seconds. Another amazing night and I will take some great memories home with me.

  • As usual, Moz and the band were great. Interesting Drug was a brilliant addition.

However, Hammerstein as a venue sucks. I don't so much mean the actual physical venue. That's OK. But the place is run in the most incompetent way ever.

A friend and I showed up around 9:30 in the morning, and there were about 20-something people in front of us. Cool, we thought, we'll get up pretty close. But then the line shifted (people moved to a new spot, and security was nowhere around to supervise or tell us where to stand). And then all of a sudden a whole bunch of new people were in front. I asked someone what was up, and they said that apparently that's been happening every night. Some group has been "holding" spaces for their friends, like a high school clique (oh, the irony, seeing as how we're Moz fans here). An hour before doors opened, my friend and I were way back, and many others behind us were pissed off. One guy made a good point (sorry, I forget your name, dude with the Moz quote tatoo), he said "Some people just think that they're the only true fans, that there's a way to justify their behavior, that their experience is all that matters."

And did the Hammerstein staff care? Hell no, they had their heads up their asses. they couldn't manage the lines, they couldn't let people in without having everyone shove and push and yell. Then my friend's ticket wouldn't scan, and they held him as others went in, so he ended up far behind me. Then they manhandle a few invaders in an awful way.

Overall, Moz yes, Hammerstein never again.

  • I think this was my favorite US show. Morrissey was in spectacular voice, The band were rock solid, and the crowd was nuts. The denim was back, and the invaders did the best they could under difficult circumstances.

The Man was so chatty, I just can't keep up with it. His band intro was classic: "I found myself walking, late last night, down by the docks (as one will), and I happened across this band." As an old-time New Yorker, I find that absolutely hilarious.

He noted that David Johansen was in the audience. He then launched into "Human Being," and upon finishing exclaimed that "David Johansen has been spotted running for the exit - somebody stop him!"

What a great setlist. "Jack the Ripper" was fantastic, "Interesting Drug" brought down the house, and "Good Looking Man About Town" was actually wonderful, with Morrissey posing in the most seductive way. "Death of a Disco Dancer" has also been really very moving. I missed "The Loop," but it's a small thing.

This week has been tremendous - Morrissey's audience is the best crowd ever, but everyone here knows that. From 18 to 55, he really does get the cream of the crop. I met people I know I'll see again. From Sweden to Newfoundland to Mexico, Canada, Finland, Germany and beyond, everyone had a great story to tell.

I met a kid on the subway who's eyes were like saucers, and whose jaw was on the floor. He said he simply could not believe what he had just seen. He asked "What's it like, to be loved like that?" What could I say? Only Morrissey knows the answer to that question. I'm just glad that he's still around to give us all a lesson in Glamour that none of us will ever forget, even if we try...

    Apres Baltimore, le deluge.

  • I can't believe it is over! 5 nights with Morrissey flew by, and his performance was impeccable. He was on point all 5 nights, and he seemed very happy, except when talking about Baby Seals. The crowd can be debated, but I must say those who were there waiting, singing, sweating, being stomped over, were a great bunch. I met a lot of nice people, and people with a sense of humor. Saturday night to me, was the best, followed by opening night's set list. Thank You, all who attended, and showed your love for Morrissey. We are all comrades, and those who I was fortunate to meet and talk with, I must say it was never like talking to a stranger. We are all old friends!

I met some really cool people at these shows....I want to thank the man in front of me who helped me jump the baracade on Sunday, and the people behind me who helped from behind. Morrissey held my hand for the second time!! It is a complete blur and I was completely soberI realized this morning I had a huge bloody mess on my leg from hitting the baracade when the bouncers tossed me off the stage.... Andrew for switching my GA for his N-type ticket and Math for getting me a sweater. Roy, Carlos, Jen, Maya, and your funny friend from Boston. Thanks for making the show more enjoyable!!!!

    Oh and.....

No one seemed to mention his first words on Sunday...."Momma I want to sing....Momma I want to sing"

  • Sigh. So this week has truly been amazing. I was able to make 3 of the 5 shows - Monday, Saturday and Sunday. All, of course, were incredibly awesome but to me each for different reasons. Monday night I was the closest to him out of all the other nights, so that needs no further explanation. Saturday in my opinion was the best, Morrissey seemed happiest to me that night and they crowd energy was definitely at it's highest. Sunday I was able to enjoy the show, although from afar, with the nicest, most adorable person I had the pleasure of meeting all week. (Hi Andrew!) I'm so sad that it's all over, but the memories make me smile and there's like a million videos and pictures posted to look back on, so I guess that's a little helpful. It was so nice meeting everyone, and I can't wait to see you all again at the next show...whenever it may be. Hello again to Roy and Andrew, and to the nice girl that I sat next to for a bit on line that got my friend Carmela the sweatshirt. And of course to Carmela darling, I know you're reading this and I love you and can't think of anyone else I would have wanted to share this week with! Oh yea - after the show while waiting around back for Morrissey, I had to use the bathroom. So my friend Andrew and I walked in the back door and just starting walking around backstage like we were allowed to and no one said anything for a while. I was able to meet the lovely girls from Girls in a Coma, and also able to shake David Johansen's hand and chat with him for a second. After someone finally noticed that we didn't belong there, they asked us to leave and on our way out Morrissey was like right behind us. I didn't even notice until we were out the door and he walked right past me. I think I yelled the typical "I love you" or something like that, it went by so fast I'm not really sure. Thanks to Andrew for wondering around backstage with me!

  • The setlists were great night after night, and Moz and the band were in top form. I guess what sort of dampened it all for me were two things: the line-jumpers and the great distance of the barricade from the stage. I think being closer to the stage (and not being beaten to it night after night by people arriving 2 hours beforehand) would have really made these shows great.

I agree, then, with one of the commentators above: Hammerstein seems diametrically opposed to the unique nature of Moz shows.
