  • A brilliant gig in a very very very hot day (he said "how can you stand this heat"). The version of how soon is now was brutal. The new band is really good.He was kind of chatty. When introducing Crashing bores he said he was las night at FNAC and when he saw the music cds he thought The World is full of crashing bores...Also he wanted someone from the audience to say something on the microphone. When nothing was said he replied: "Coward!"Also was funny remembering his first visit to Madrid in 1952!I think the band sounded really compact and they had a good time! So did we!He couldn't avoid speaking about bullfight of course...I am happy about that...No bullfight!Only one bad thing ...he didn't play Throwing my arms around Paris. I really love the song!Sorry for my bad English!

    Williams,
  • It's was my first time with him.

He didn't dissapoited nothing at all.

Performing as I expected thousand of times in my mind.

One of the best tracklist that I could imagine ever.(but where was suedhead my friend?hahaha)

And with the present for me that He opened the show with "the last of the famous..." in a really peculiar version.

    AMAZING

  • "Venue was quite good but not sold out. Most of fans were younger than I expected. Morrissey was in good mood he seemed to want to interact with the audience (with little success) knowing that it had been more than 20 years since he last showed up on Madrid with The Smiths. No variations from last setlists, but the performance of he and the band was almost perfect. My loved highlights were:
ask, that's how people grow up: the crowd got mad
vicar in a tutu: very good revision
death of the disco dancer: very intense
life's a pigsty: this live performance has become a classic
how soon is now?: people ending up in ecstassy.

The talks I can remember are:

"I can speak mexican, but I can't speak spanish"

"You are too old to forget, I am too young to remember"- When introducing "vicar in a tutu"

"I am nobody, somebody who is passing through.."- When introducing himself

"Why have you lasted so long to ask for me?" - Talking about last time he stayed in Madrid, he said 1952 (!), he insisted we were not born at that time.

"How can you stay alive in that heat?" - Surprisingly he only changed shirt once.

"We went to FNAC last night and we looked at the shelves with the CDs...you know blah blah blah...blah blah bla...the world is full of crashing bores" - FNAC is a french company that mainly sells books and music very popular in Madrid.

"Matador, bang bang" - When introducing life's a pigsty, that he dedicated to all the bullfighting world. "Matador de toros" means literally "killer of bulls", but it is a word only used to call the bullfighter.

By the way I do love the bullfighting and bull running, I think there is a lot of ignorance when ranting this terrific vital experience, not forgetting the artistic meaning.

The ambiguos point of the night was when Morrissey introduced the band he said something about "???? Cockroaches" or maybe I misunderstood..can someone help me on this?

Overall, when do you come back Mozzadelo?"

  • Plus/minus micro-review:

    + his wit
    + his attitude
+ the sound - technically well done imo
+ the audience - although a bit shy
+ the band - seemed very pro, liked very much the gong sound when was used.

    - the cucarachas
    - fnac's record selection
    - his mexican accent when trying to speak english
    - that I could not see well what the hell was he doing when he lay on the stage floor

Morrissey es el puto amo, and I hope we dont have to wait till 2052 to see you there again.

ps "This next song is from our new CD that comes out in september, yes, you all have a copy already..."

  • Hi, Spanish quiffs, Mozfans of Spain...& others ;).
The gig was amazing, Morrissey was in a really good mood & sounded great!!!
I was for a week in holiday in probably the most hottest town of Spain, temperature 39, that's a little bit tooo ;), but allso better than rain & temperature 14 in Belgium now :(.
I hope it will change, soon.
But off course i came especially for Morrissey to Madrid, he was really amazing, looking good, burnt browny body ;)!!!
Allso Siouxsie & My Bloody Valentine were very good.
It was my first time in Madrid and not the last one.
I take some great pictures of our big M from Manchester....

  • It was a great show but nothing like his own concert, which are more intense and intimist even so it worth it the 6 hours under a letal sun.
At the end, one of the roadies (twat or worst)through back to the audience the Quarry box that i sent to the stage...Moz fire that incompetent!
The guy who catch the box, if you dont want it of course, send it to the written address...I´ll apreciate.

Steven: With so many beatiful songs, why play Death of a Disco Dancer??

P.S. Hope that we are 3 next time.

  • His precise and synthetic commentaries showed us what a great poet he is.
His voice and tonnes told us about what a good singer he is.
His ways and manners explained us what a big entertainer he is.
We enjoyed his sentences, his songs and his presence.
    Thank you, Morrissey.
