  • lovely crowd, Morrissey in top form. Doll and the Kicks were very good and Mozza made tons of contact with the crowd. nice suit he had on at the start too..and the encore was blissful ;-)

  • Soooooo gracious, sooooo much interaction with the crowd. He was an absolute star. I will never wash these hands again!!!! The security guys were overly strict at the start but lightened up near the end when they saw that Morrissey wanted to interact. He shook my hand 3 times!!! Amazing :) It was fantabulous! Belfast crowd great, very tight but they let me through. *heart*
    Best night ever :) :)

  • Fantastic intimate concert. Morrissey seemed to be enjoying himself. Better vocals and atmosphere than Omagh. Crowd were very vocal. A wide range of songs from across his career and the band were on top form. Doll and the Kicks were worthy support with Doll having an excellent stage presence. Like the others unfortunately I was beside the floppy haired clown at the front. What a joke. From his clearly practised dramatics he is some failed actor. Despite Morrissey being feet away he spent his time with his back to the stage wallowing in his own self importance and annoying us. Needs to grow up. Also got the signed album - no.1 of 30. Can't wait for Liverpool and then Manchester.

  • Was I at a different gig?
This was terrible. This is Vegas Morrissey going through the motions. He's overweight, everything is slow and its like bad karaoke.
Its the quietest Ive seen a Belfast crowd at a gig. I thought the show was really bland, the backing band are awful, no charisma.
I'm sorry thats how I feel, I'm a big fan, saw The Smiths play Belfast three time in my youth, this was his pension fund tour. I was really disappointed as was everyone around me

  • Best Moz gig I've been too.
It was a fairly quiet crowd though.
The acoustics in the Waterfront are world class, so the band and Moz sounded phenomenal. That said, its mostly seated (only tickets I could get were seated) and the staff wouldn't let you stand in the seated area, hence why the crowd 'appeared' so subdued.

Played my favourite song from 4 different albums
    Let Me Kiss You
    Seasick, Yet Still Docked
Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself
    Best Friend On The Payroll

The 'Smiths' songs were a wee bit disappointing, it did sound like he was going through the motions on Ask, Some Girls, Girlfriend In A Coma.

Though the usual lyric changes never fail to impress :)

How Soon Is Now...."Could meet somebody, who can actually stand you"
"so you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, WHATTTTTT, Big surprise!"

    Compared Chatsworth Estate to heaven.
Said Boz was standing in the halflight, so English.

Blah blah blah, I'm babbling now. Superb show.

One thing that surprised me, was how Quarry heavy it was....

    Crashing Bores
    First Of The Gang
    Let Me Kiss You
How Can Anybody Know How I Feel
    Irish Blood English Heart...

  • What a wonderful show, way better than last night and I enjoyed that too. The sound in the hall was brilliant, Skull and OK by myself were mindblowing. Morrissey was in great form and interacted well throughout especially the encore.
If my beer fuzzed memory serves me well the set list was:
    Charming man
    Billy Budd
    Black Cloud
    How soon is now?
    Irish blood, English heart
    Ask
    Throwing my arms around Paris
How can anybody possibly know how I feel?
    Girlfriend in a coma
    Crashing bores
When I last spoke to Carol
    The loop
    Sorry doesn't help
Some girls are bigger than others
    Let me kiss you
    seasick yet still docked
Why don't you find out for yourself
    Best friend on the payroll
    Something is squeezing my skull
    I'm OK by myself
    encore: First of the gang
Possibly in wrong order in the middle maybe someone who was there can confirm
Thanks Morrissey for a fabulous night, Two fabulous nights in fact, come back soon , not 10 yrs.

  • I have seen Moz about 10 times in ten years, and this was probably the best of them all. The atmosphere was great, the sound was great and the big man seemed to enjoy himself too. This has wiped my bad memories from the embarressing Ulster Hall gig in 99.

It was a very classy way to end the Irish leg of the tour. The Waterfront is Belfast is a top standard venue. Even since Killarney, Morrissey’s energy seems raised. He looked terribly dapper, and the band's raiments were neatly synchronised plus Boz and Christopher were wearing glasses for a while. He said something at the beginning that sounded partly like Spanish words: I didn't catch it. No drinks were allowed in the hall which didn't fill up until Morrissey was due on stage. I was content at the far side of the barrier until a zulu of a women bombarded through treating people like empty air to spend the rest of the time flailing her arms about, mobile phone in tow. Meh!

The band are ripping up the stage, agilely using the space, handling their instruments expertly. Matt Walker does a mesmerising imitation of a Kodo drummer at the end of How Soon is Now. The YoR singles trigger mass singalongs, as do most of the older hits. Morrissey sarcastically wished 'good luck' to anyone looking to purchase the songs in the stores. They are stocked in Dublin at least. When the microphone was passed to the audience, a man thanked Morrissey for 'saving us from so much bad music'. Naturally this seemed to hit the spot. Morrissey said 'thank God I have my rosary beads' at some point, probably jokingly in response to behaviour observed?

He is of course very widely, very much, loved. The few detractors may be loud, but they are very wrong. Each of them is one in thousands. Every day he is having the last laugh and winning more appreciation for being a source of inspiration, 'very near, everywhere...roosting in the mind.' He smiled warmly while shaking the hand of a genuine teenage boy at the barrier. The truth is more in the living than the telling.

Let's hope that the trip to Ireland was somewhere near as worthwhile and joyful for Morrissey and his entourage as for the punters. He leaves behind emotions to be reflected in tranquility - or even in turbulence that some of us might be facing: lip-smacking revelations abeting wishes for more; self-validation. Away with them now to Robbie Burn and Gordon Brown country; may the road rise to meet them, and hearts be made merry and stronger by their louder-than-bombs troubadouring!

  • Just arrived back in Liverpool after a great weekend in Belfast. Great place, great people and what a fantastic venue for a gig. The bar upstairs had wall to ceiling glass that looked out over the city. Morrissey and band were on top form last night and the sound was very good. I have seem Morrissey quite a few times and that was up there with the best. Thank you Moz and thank you Belfast i will be back. See you in Liverpool on Sunday !

  • As a veteran of 25 shows I have never enjoyed a weekend like the one just past. We travelled up on Friday morning from Dublin and checked into our hotel in Omagh. As we were checking in Matt Jesse and Solomon were going through the foyer heading to the tourbus on the way to the soundcheck. then Boz came along stopped fo a couple of minutes for a chat and a couple of photos. Top Bloke.

Right up the front for the Omagh gig and "after all this time" finally got a handshake from Moz and was delighted. Really enjoyed the concert and the band were excellent. Mr Pooley gets a lot of stick on here but his playing was faultless to tis ear

Back to the hotel and the residents bar Jesse joined us for a few drinks and a bit of a singsong. Gavin from These Charming Men was with us and he had his guitar.I cannot say enough about how pleasant and friendly Jesse was. Great company and full just a decent down to earth bloke.

Belfast was a much more intense show. I was very near the "idiot" that some people posted about earlier. He was very annoying and loud. Managed to get another hand shake from Moz during the encore and Jesse gave me the signed setlist at the end. Truely a fantastic weekend and one I wont forget for quite a long time.

BTW Dolls and the Kicks were very good and the lead singer is indeed a doll. Absolutly gorgous.

  • Strange thing - pereception?

I thought the venue was intimate; where even the smallest of us could at least get a glimpse. The fans I thought to be tame; little dancing, non existent crowd surcharges and one - possibly two attempts at individual stage invasion. Polite folk and incredibly friendly but sadly for me there seemed to be only muted enthusiasm.

Morrissey to me was lacklustre and only nearing the end did he seem to connect with those at the front. The turgid reworking of opener This Charming Man horrified me and the tone was set. This, for me was Morrissey by numbers and Morrissey at times seemed to be looking for his abacus. He has been worse but oh! he has been so much better. I can only hope that the Stirling gig allows him to blow away some cobwebs.

Oh a little warning - the voice was croaky in places but expertly hidden by a slew of la la las and other filler (which he is amazing at). I just hope that this does not mean cancellations for any of the other uk dates.

I may have trod on a few shoes gettin in at the start by accident, but there were some gaps on the right where people just didn't seem up for gettin in there up close to the barrier so I thought I'd move in there with me sis an me cousin an show Moz that at least some people there knew how to enjoy themselves!
