There was an attempted stage invasion from the left side, behind the amps. The rather chunky grey-headed invader didn't get to Moz though. The 'security' bundled him out the side door! Moz gave out dozens of hand shakes. He seemed to be having a great time. He gave the microphone to a few people in the crowd. A lovely sounding American girl claimed he looked "handsome". Moz retorted, "there's no need for that".
Fave songs for me were The Loop and Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself (accordion version!). I can't wait until Thursday and Glasgow. I have vowed to get a bloody handshake, even if it kills me.
God Bless Morrissey!!!!

Boz was in a rage from mid-show onwards. The big fellah even threw his guitar aggressively to the floor as soon as the encore was complete. I'm pretty sure he was raging at one of the sound technicians. Could that be why the show was held up for a couple of minutes? I certainly think so.
Upon completion of First of the gang (encore), the bloke directly in front of me attempted a stage jump, unfortunately the gorillas at the front were on him in a flash and in an instant he was gone.
What a result for me though as I bizarrely ended up on the front barrier for the final few seconds, AFTER the last song.
The moral of my tale is this ; As The Moz walked along the front of the stage to say his final farewell I was able to leap on the barrier and reach out to him. He reached out for one final hand-shake of the evening and I'm absolutely ecstatic to say that I was the recipient. The great man reached out for my hand and there it was, a full 5 second handshake with the legend himself. I'm hereby laying claim to the final and longest lasting handshake at Dundee!
A great evening was definitely now a great, unforgettable evening. Roll on the Barrowlands with the Barmy Glesga Crowd.

Waited out back for Mozza but he went straight onto his bus. Not to worry tho as a lovely london girl informed me that the band had not yet left, went back and managed to skake Jesse's hand, plus i got Solomans and Boz's autograph on my ticket
Wonderful night, Moz loved every minute of it and had a good banter with the audiance.

Moz came in at 9.30, and said during the show "we're a bit late... did you notice?"
I'm pretty sure the setlist was the same as Stirling, definitely the same songs all played
He gave the mic to the audience a few times; a highlight was when he said "Are you going to say something nice? Are you? You're not are you?" and the guy said, in a very thick weegie accent, "We all love you by the way big man!"
A massive fight broke out next to me, wild fists flying between 4 or 5 guys. It was during the wailing at the end, and Morrissey and the rest of the band were at the front of the stage looking down at it. I thought it was funny that these 5 kids were in a ruck, and a circle around them stepped back, but an old guy stepped in for a sly boot then stepped back again. After the song and they were dragged out by security, Moz said something along the lines of "There's a fight in Dundee... who'd have thought!"
At the end of Some Girls, he walked off and the band were left standing; a stage guy broke the tense atmosphere saying they were fixing the monitor and he'd be back in a couple of minutes. When they started Let Me Kiss You Morrissey said "Don't look at me... no, don't look at me!"; there was a bit of a stutter between guitars and the first line was off but it was fine from then on.
He told a story about liking Dundee biscuits when he was wee, until he found out they put "pigs bellies" in them, "Do they still make them? I hope not"
Now, a week before, I went to see the Specials in Glasgow, and I was a bit disappointed by the audience last night compared to them (and it didn't seem to match the atmosphere of Stirling from what I read); I wanted to dance but I seemed to be closed in by bored looking housewives, and I was scared to bump into them haha.
For the First Of The Gang encore me and a few others were determined to get on stage, but couldn't get past the po-faced ladies on the barrier; two of them even had a catfight because one of them tried to get past.
Altogether though Moz was on great form, still a really good show
The afterparty at the Reading Rooms was great as well, and there was another big fight there too. It was quite funny having the whole building shouting "Hang The DJ, Hang The DJ, Hang The DJ" long after the song had ended!

I'm pretty sure he was raging at one of the sound technicians as they seemed to be growling at each other for most of the gig. Could that be why the show was held up for a couple of minutes? I certainly think so. I actually thought at one point that they were going to call a halt to proceedings. It will be interesting to see if the same sound technician appears at the Barrowlands tomorrow.
Just the one shirt thrown into the crowd tonight, this was possibly due to the shirt wrestling championship at Stirling on Monday. 45 minutes after the gig there was still 8 bodies glued to the shirt. Completely hilarious, thanks Moz for supplying a good old giggle.

It's Dundee.
It's the Caird Hall.
It's a female singer/songwriter supporting.
It's Morrissey.
It's 1991.
I'm just a lad. I'm waiting in line to see, for the very first time, a man that I don't know but who I know better than anyone else. I'm waiting in line to see a man who doesn't know me but who knows me better than anyone else.
Phranc, a Jewish, Lesbian, singer songwriter hits the stage and warbles her way around her set. I don't hear much of it as the deafening roars of the "Mo-rr-i-ss-ey" chant is filling my eardrums.
Morrissey stalks onto the stage and, despite lasting only 40 minutes, fulfills all my hopes, dreams and desires...it is a defining moment in my life.
Here I am again waiting in line to enter the Caird Hall to see Morrissey. 18 years after the first time. Do you remember the first time...of course I do. I've brought along a Morrissey virgin. She's travelled all the way from London. She is giddy with excitement and so am I.
Solo's so low have filled my heart with dread for months...the album ain't no good, the singles ain't no good, the gigs ain't no good and it's all over now.
Oh how terrible it must be to live in such a state...especially when you know you are wrong, wrong, wrong. So desperate to be heard in the herd that you say anything, something that you don't believe in to get a reaction.
Pity would be wasted.
I've seen Morrissey many times...more than some, less than others, but never have I heard him sound so good. Every note is hit with effortless grace. Every song is infused, enthused with real will and gusto.
The man himself looks, oh dial a cliche, handsome and devilish. He is full, fighting fit and far from disabled...he seems free, strong and, possibly, happy.
He is full of wit and bonhomie...
"Tonight, tomorrow night, we travel to Glasgae where I expect to be set upon by ten year old girls who will beat the bejaysus out of us...I don't mind"
"I don't have a best friend. I don't have a payroll. I don't have a best friend."
"There's a fight in Dundee? Who would have thought?"
"This is our new single that you can buy...nowhere"
I could say more but you get the general idea.
The crowd was filled with the usual misfits, fits, identikits and sundries...there's a boy who has a quiff, there's a girl in a MSP leopard print jacket, there's a skinhead with a hoodie, there's a geography teacher, there's a beautiful blonde girl in a very short dress.
What makes a Morrissey fan?
Thankfully for Morrissey the answer to that question is not the vulgar monsters and monstrosities that populate so much of Solo like a demonic strain of swine flu...infecting everything with indier than thou pah.
A triumph I tells ya, a triumph.

without turning this into a book..here are the main points..
the band need sacking...no subtlety, rock out at the drop of a hat, look awful etc etc
all morrissey sings or talks about now is the decreasing circles he has hemmed himself into over the years...just read the titles...you don't have to listen..just imagine a plodding mid pace guitar stomp..and try not to remember this guy lives in the lap of luxury and could pretty much have all he wanted (apart from that quentin crisp conundrum)
no one is encouraging him to up his game..journos, celebs and fans circle the block to kiss his arse..
why did he start dressing so badly?
and hanging on to the mike stand?
and as for the tom of finland set design...the nude photos et al....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
as for it being like 1991....no..not at all...never...in a million ways...
and i've promissed to do a two hour 50th birthday special on him for local radio on 23 may..

When they're coasting, as a standalone entity, Morrissey's current lot sound like a more than competent but ultimately uninspired pub rock band.
As a consequence, the gig was at its best when the songs were very bare and the band backed off.
Moz's voice continues to sound very good indeed. Seasick Yet Still Docked was absolutely beautiful -- but it was beautiful because the only accompaniment was a single acoustic guitar.
I just about wretched when they rocked their way through This Charming Man. I have no sentimental attachment to the Smiths because I discovered Moz first and the Smiths second. It was just... it didn't sound good.
Maybe a third of the songs were really good, the rest were unremarkable.
Moz himself was on great form, but I just didn't enjoy it that much. Oh well. I hope he strips the band away and gets away from the current sound.
