Latvian Dream (Score:1)
- Based on the play by the famous Latvian writer Anna Brigadere [and made into a film called 'Tom Thumb']... Spriditis is a little boy who has a nasty step-mother. She makes him work hard. One day Spriditis decides to go and look for the Land of Happiness. He takes a spade with him, as he is going to find some hidden treasure and become rich. He does not find money, but meets the Mother of Winds and the Mother of Woods. They ask him to do some work, and rewards him for it. He manages to overcome a Giant and a Miser. Then he comes to a castle and agrees to free it from a devil. The king promises him a princess and half of the Kingdom. But when the boy has done his work, they cheat him. With the help of the Magic Ring he returns home and realises that one can only be happy in one's native land. - http://www.latfilma.lv/s/185/ [latfilma.lv]

A great show (Score:4, Informative)
The Latvian fans were very laid back about queueing. Queue, what queue? There never was one! The crowd still seemed very appreciative even though they may not have been overly familiar with all the songs and didn't sing along to very many ('It's OK if you don't know the words. Just smile... or nod... or LEAVE!').
The band were introduced as 'the merchandise for sale'. All wore different red t-shirts, M went through 3 shirts, only one of which was thrown into the crowd. Even the fight for the shirt seemed more laid back and civilised than usual!
Set list as posted before. 'You Just Haven't Earned it Yet, Baby' was great again. A very energetic show and M appeared to enjoy himself. Boz's dance steps are getting better by the minute
In both Tallinn and Riga there were LOTS of press photographers at the shows, so expect to find some reviews and photos on the internet (P.S. translations from the locals would be welcome!).
In Tallinn M quipped 'As you can see and hear, we are a death metal band from Finland... and WE HATE EVERYBODY!'. When he handed the microphone our way I told him they were still the BEST death metal band out of Finland. It must have sounded rather random to most people, sorry!
All the Latvian fans we spoke to were lovely. A big hello to the lovely mother and daughter pair. Glad you enjoyed your first show and well done on the handshakes! A great crowd!
DATK were again just plain wonderful and it's been wonderful to see them so well received everywhere.
Thanks to the usual suspects and enjoy the rest of the tour!

Re: Latvian psychic on Rubber Ring (Score:3, Interesting)
"Morrissey's own voice from the dead is echoed in the unnerving sample culled from an obscure EP originally distributed with Dr Konstantin Raudive's 1971 book Breakthough: An Amazing Experiment in Electronic Communication with the Dead. Often referred to as EVP - the Electronic Voice Phenomenon - these 'Raudive Voices' were allegedly recordings of the deceased collected by the Latvian phychologist on special laboratory equipment. The woman's voice heard on 'Rubber Ring' is that of Nadia Fowler, Raudive's English translator, interpreting one such message from his former collaborator, the Swedish para-psychologist Professor Gebhard Frei who had recently died. Frei's message to Raudive is a mixture of Swedish and German: 'Du sovas, willst nicht glaube!'/ 'You are sleeping, you do not want to believe!'. 'It was always very exciting when Morrissey brought in these little ideas', comments Street. 'He'd just bring in these records and say "I want this on" and we'd experiment with it, cue it up and drop it in when it sounded right. I think Johnny in particular really appreciated these little soundscape ideas that set them apart from other bands'."

MJ vs Moz mashup? No contest. (Score:1)
Regarding Morrissey’s alleged comments on Michael Jackson at his recent Riga concert: Without access to a high-quality audio/video clip to analyse Morrissey’s intonation, inhalation, general delivery, it is impossible to definitively conclude what Morrissey was clumsily attempting to communicate.
The necrophilia fc-uk of Fame’s husk? The vicarious rubber-necking of bystander’s at the end of the Ultimate Star Car-Crash Life? Or maybe it’s just another lamentable hissy fit of pique. Just Jealousy. Perhaps Morrissey lay in bed that night at The Riga Travelodge lamenting his ‘almost-fame’, his twinkling Xmas tree bauble of Tinseltown compared to the Supernova MJ who eclipsed even Elvis?
Despite Morrissey’s past form allegedly suggesting Madonna turn her adopted baby boy into a handbag:
http://www.usmagazine.com/madonna_and_morrissey?page=6
I will suspend judgement. For now. But you can only forgive and forget so often. If it transpires he intended ill-will towards MJ: Every single Morrissey track is erased. All the tat and crap goes on Ebay. Enough already….Morrissey has a track record in serious fc-uk ups regarding The ‘Beautiful’ and The Damned. No one aware of Morrissey’s witless attempts to justify his total failure to ’get’ Kurt before he proved he was ‘4 Real’ can take Morrissey’s Outsider Posturing seriously. No matter how many oblique strategies he employs to echo Genet as a hip 50 granddaddy of rock. Hippies indeed. He only venerates those icons who have died and are embalmed beyond any further re-appraisal. MJ is simply too hot to handle, which perhaps explains his consternation?
In any event, I have already made the definitive statement regarding Morrissey and Michael in response to the eloquent testimony of Kate2828. Perhaps it’s worthwhile everyone considering my words again whilst allowing some degree of compassion and dignity to the dead father of 3 bewildered children:

Oh, and Michael died an innocent man. He was tried in a court of law and found innocent on every single count. Fame, wealth, mental illness, irresponsibility and infantile regression are NOT casually and sloppily equivalent with the most heinous of crimes against a child‘s body and soul. Morrissey wrote ‘Children In Pieces’. Michael Jackson’s children are in pieces. Perhaps life is too complicated for many of you. Including Morrissey. To compare MJ’s court ordeal with the circus of Morrissey refusing to pay his drummer would, of course, be beyond risible.
Micheal knew he was doomed. He’d been singing about it for a long, long time. But the feckless and fickle had stopped paying attention to his cri de coeur. You might want to load up Michael Jackson singing ‘Morphine’ on Spotify and listen. Loop. Listen. Learn. As for lyrical genius: There has never been a more eloquent testimony regarding chemical chimeras. That includes every Nikki Sixx lyric ever written, not to mention The Needle and the Damage Done. Here’s a snippet:
“Trust in me. Trust in me. Put all your trust in me. You're doin' morphine. Go'on babe Relax. This won't hurt you. Before I put it in. Close your eyes and count to ten Don't cry. I won't convert you. There's no need to dismay Close your eyes and drift away: Demerol. Demerol. Oh God he's taking demerol Demerol. Demerol. Oh God he's taking Demerol “
Rest in peace my beautiful friend. I owe you more than words can ever express.
