The best Mozzer concert I ever seen! The Gasometer was sold out, Morrissey in really good mood.. before Gang he said something like Ultravox made an horrible song.. Vienna! I gave him a photographic book "Pasolini e Roma" He said Gracias! I touched is hand not ones but twice. The most emotional song was Please Please Please... Boz Boorer was great as usual. Amazing gig, really. So Rimini here we come! BECAUSE WE MUST
ps: Doll and the Kiks, so brilliant really

Morrissey received what I think was a 7-inch single and he was deeply impressed. Towards the end, someone was hitting a woman in the front, and she hit back, altough I think he didn't intend to hurt her but was just going wild. I liked the concert, tough was sadened at one point because the woman next to me was crying for whatever reason and a man, assumingly her boyfriend or husband had to comfort her.
Doll and the Kicks were good, but my appraisal may be manipulated by the picture of the singer in her extremely short dress that actually made visible the beginnings of her bottom when she was turning around.

fantastic gig, moz in grate shape,
was a little too emotional for me...

when introducing the band, he said: "... and i am a dark shadow, sailing from this country to thos country, to that country... and it gets me to.....(looking into the audience)?"

songs as always, incl. please please please and pigsty, no "you just havent.."

when reached a 7 inch from... some "manny nelson" or something like that, he got very emotional and pretended to cry

at the encore he said "and im relieved that during our stay nobody made a reference to that horrible song from ultravox"

what a great gig it was....

  • This was my 6th Morrissey-Concert in the last 3 years and definitely the one I enjoyed the most. Moz and the guys were in excellent form sounded really great. I stood in the second row and could twice almost touch the man, bur the gap between the pit and the stage was a bit too big. The girl right in front of me was more successful. She could hand him the 7-inch-single and he was obviously surprised, impressed and glad about it. Girl from Brussels, I'm so happy for you, you will surely never forget that moment.
My personal highlight of the show was "Pigsty", as Morrisseys Voice especially in this song was simply stunning!
Hope to see you once again in my life, Moz!

Sorry to spoil your enthusiasm and reverence about morrissey a bit but offside the show - which was very goot, no doubt about that - that guy shows little or no respect to his fans, the people he lives on. We were 4 fans in the afternoon when he arrived at the venue, he didn't even turn his head when we called, didn't even ignore us. Same procedure after the show though there were about 20 fans there. Straight into the bus, no look, no wave, no hello, no whatever. That's definitely NO way to treat people! At least in my humble opinion.

  • "Mozzer" was tired (Score:4, Informative)

For starters, i have to say that the star no longer has the same brightness of once, and this is undisputed – I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan, but I must confess I was a little disappointed – Morrissey was tired, visibly tired although in a very good mood. The sound was absurdly high - the sound as high covered the weakness of his voice, and one as the feeling that there was no time for sound-check and that it was done during the first 4 or 5 songs – it was only when he sang “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris” that things got better. Sometimes you couldn’t hear is voice clearly, since most of the instruments were much louder. And the concert was very very short – 1 hour and 14 minutes, including the solo “encorre” – and he said “I thought today would not be able to do it – I am very sorry guys, we have been to 35 countrys in 2 weeks” (!!!!???) …. Well, don’t think I understood what he meant. But despite what I have outlined, it was a fine gig, with great musicians and good vibe – Carlos de Mello http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXAbMfWxJTM [youtube.com]

  • okey. i think it was an amazing concnert! i liked it more than in helsinki two weeks ago because in helsinki it seemed that he was going through the songs very quickly and here he enjoyed it more. but i have to say that the sound or acoustic or how you call it was not soooo good at gasometer - but i think thats a well known problem. the concert in helsinki was amazing too but i dont know. it seems that he was enjoying himself more last night - maybe he could rest more before the show or whatever!

the band was amazing as well! they are reallly cool and i liked their 'uniforms' and i think morrissey and the band play together very well.

i especially liked how soon is now - which i only like when its played live -, i 'm throwing my arms around paris - which is just a perfect morrisseysong - and especially why dont you find out for yourself! that was soooooooooo good!!!!!! i was almost in tears!

okey, conclusion: a very nice and special evening with morrissey.

  • ghastly but, as I mentioned further up this thread I said that, like it or not, It's Not Your Birthday has a very slight resemblance to it when YoR came out.

Vienna does typify overblown synthetic 80s art-rock ballads, but it's still a pretty good song!

  • .. but in Vienna, Morrissey was really struggling with his voice. He was cutting and modifying high notes left and right and by the end he was obviously hoarse (and acknowledged it as well when he coughed theatrically in the middle of Sory Doesn't Help). He might have been in a good mood, but there were moments when he really sounded somnehow dry and shallow. I'm sure the cancellations in Rimini have something to do with this.

But he's lucky to have such a tight and hard-hitting band backing him up.

im not saying that it wasnt good, but due to some disturbing elements (agressive people) i couldnt enjoy it more
the stage was higher and quite far, only few handshakes were made

i hope that this wasnt mozzas last visit somewhere here, would love to see him again

  • Oooh, touchy. He just said it was a ghastly SONG, I don't think he attacked Ultravox's entire career or back catalogue - in which case, I think he showed impeccable restraint. IMO Vienna IS a ghastly, over-produced, over-exposed novelty song. At least we have the satisfaction that Joe Dolce's Shaddap Your face kept it off the Number One spot in the UK. :)
