  • Pardon my english please... :-)

Just back from Le Zénith. I feared that Mozz would be tired, or not in a good mood, but it was OK, he seemed happy to be there, with some comments between the songs.

He wore a brown suit, with black shirt (then blue and red). He said something about being in Pigalle this afternoon (a neighborhood of Paris, famous fot his hot nights) and some other things i didn't really understood, except the fact he had nothing to do with music industry and had no company deal anymore...

The gig was a good one, but, as always with Momo, too short (just more than an hour, with just one encore). He played the same tarcklisting as in Lille, i think.

The best songs, in my opinion, were the Smiths ones. "Why don't you find out..." was a good surprise.

The band played too loudly for me. This "wall of sound" does not match with those beautiful songs, in my opinion. But the sound in that place is always awful, so no surprise in fact.

It was a good evening, Le Zénith was not full but quite crowdy enough. People seemed to be pleased, and I was, personnally.

Thanks Momo for this gig, hope to see you again soon in Paris.

Morrissey in very fine form. Great great voice. A few jokes. How Soon Is Now was amazing. The band ruined This Charming Man and, for me, spoiled Cemetry Gates. They're more at ease with big noise than melodies, that's a fact. Moz was quite punchy and concerned by the show. At one time, he lied on the floor as if he had fainted. THere was a kind of thrill than he woke up.

  • I cannot listen to the 'pop punk' version of TCM. It is a graceless thing indeed and particularly in the context of Morrissey's advancing years; the presence of this song in the set (which the band are clearly musically ill-equipped to play) is the primary reason I have not seen Morrissey on this tour. I'm not sure how I would feel watching Green Day accompanying the greatest artist in British pop history as he struggles to avoid looking mildly embarrassed.

Hmmmmm. However, I do wish I had seen his 'Years of Refusal' tour as that album continues to impress me and I now consider it the equal of his finest ever records.

It's between TQID, The Smiths, Vauxhall, Quarry and YOR.

Bernard Butler is presently between jobs! Find him Morrissey, track him down and it could be like meeting Johnny Marr all over again. What would have happened if you had never met Johnny? That is what you may be denying yourself by sticking with the dull and unhappening reformed former infatuation junkie.

YOR is wonderful but I cannot remember any of the guitar lines except a couple. Bernard Butler could make Morrissey's band great again rather than merely very good. There is a difference, though I don't expect the great minds of so-low to understand.

  • It started really slow, with TCM played in front of a stone-cold crowd. But gradually, things went better and better, with Moz's voice sounding more and more open and comfortable. The Zenith is definitely not a nice place. The highlights to me were Ask, Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself and HSIN.

However, the band played with the subtlety of butchers in a slaughterhouse with a very average sound. Jesse Tobias is a disgrace when it comes to performing Smiths songs. Cemetry Gates was a complete letdown, so many rythm mistakes to be noticed in almost every song... God, you do need a decent band.

But in the end, things were fine. After the last year's gig at the Olympia, I really dreaded the worst for this Zenith, and despite a very cold venue, everybody went home slightly happier and, I believe, relieved that HE is still there.

PS Moz, forget Ganglord. It's a tragedy. And SISMS played on a lower tone may be easier for a strained voice, but it sounds really bad for an encore! We really missed a good exit tune.

  • Jesse continues to struggle playing Cemetry Gates, which comes as a surprise seeing that he's played most Smiths songs fairly well since he came on board.

  • This charmound really did sound terrible!! it was really bad, I wish the hadn't played it at all..cause it just did not do justice to the original and did not bring anything new. It was just badly played..I have issue this lineup but anyway..
The crowd was very quiet almost boring! The show overall was very energetic though. His voice sounded very good! Everytime I go and I think to myself "what else can he do, It's may well be my last time and everytime I walk out thinking: "I'll go back". Moz is just such a unique and charismatic performer!!!

  • The Zenith attracted an audience who acted as if they really wanted to be there. A devout and respectful band of followers threw their arms around him - metaphorically, although there was also one stage-invading attempt. When offered the microphone, one person welcomed Morrissey to Paris and assured him 'now you are a free man', to which Morrissey replied 'I wish it was so'. After stating 'this town IS big enough for the both of us' he introduced Boz, then the rest of the band, in their brown slacks. The contribution of new-boy Manzur is noticable, very nice.

Morrissey referred to the long war and the lack of a record deal.It was a top show. After 'Is It Really So Strange' he said he never wanted to go back home again. 'Daddy's Voice' and 'Death at One's Elbow' rocked; ...Skull is a blast of an encore, but the song that meant most to me yesterday, after an elevating visit to Oscar Wilde's grave in Pere Lachase in the morning, was the soaring 'Cemetry Gate'.

    Salut!

Great Gig !!! Viva Morrissey. Merci pour la première partie Doll & The Kicks. Doll était vraiment à la hauteur de l'évènement.

Malgré la fatigue, Morrissey a encore emerveillé notre soirée. This Charming man était plein de punch. L'interprétation de "The loop" était magnifique.

Merci Morrissey.

  • the sound from the center of the second row, where I was, was simply PERFECT and Morrissey´s voice was on top form; the same goes for the band. It was strange not to hear FOTGTD but at least he dropped Because of my poor education and brought back Daddy´s voice which is a better song to play live in my opinion.
He was in a very good mood and like I said, the show was great.
As for Doll and the Kicks, their singer is absolutely beautiful and incredibly sexy but they suck big time!

  • I went to Paris to celebrate my birthday (it was actually on the 12th) and thought attending a Momo (I'm a fan of this name now!) gig was the best way to spend my big day!

And it was, I had a great time, enjoyed the setlist and thought Momo was quite chatty and was giving everything... but the crowd wasn't! I was really shocked after being in Ally Pally the week before, where everyone was excited and the eneregy in the audience was amazing! Nothing to do with Paris!

You can call me naïve, but I was expecting everyone to go crazy with I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris... too obvious? Well I was a bit dissapointed when NO ONE even sang it or showed any symptom of excitement about it. No one but me, and I am not from Paris!

Irish Blood, English Heart seemed to wake people up a bit, but it lasted one song.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the concert, just a bit shocked by the people there. And I think Momo was too, at one point he said something like: "Thank you! ...if you were listening". I was listening Momo, I was!!!
