Great gig and his voice was good too. Hope he will be back soon. Think he was pleased with the crowd - warm and friendly. Well, most of us are Irish!

Also, in the tradition of any gig he's played in Dublin, he made a reference to a Dublin suburb: "Is anyone here from Swords?" [Acknowledgement from crowd] "Oh dear. That means we'll all get mugged then."
All in all, he was in a great mood, very chatty. He told us he went for a drink with Damien Dempsey [Dublin troubadour] the night before. "And you won't be surprised to hear, he couldn't last the pace. Two double sherries, and I had to put him in a taxi home."
He thanked the venue (an old, very atmospheric boxing arena) for putting on veggie food for the night, then had a pop at Irish crooner Johnny Logan for advertising McDonalds on Irish TV. Speaking of Irish crooners, the gig was prefaced by footage of cheesy 60s/70s Irish singer Joe Dolan (Side note: I was standing outside his house when he died two Christmases ago). Was this footage played before any other gigs on the tour as a matter of interest?
Funniest moment was when he gave the mike to the audience, and some American bloke said: "Morrissey, you look great, you sound great, Dublin is privileged to have you." To which the great man replied: "That's my son."
Very surprised he didn't mention Thierry Henry all night...
No setlist surprises, but 'The Loop' and 'Why Don't You Find Out...' were the standouts.

Dublin - amazing concert (Score:4, Informative)
Morrissey talked loads to the audience and was extremely chipper – I think he's really fond of the Irish (his heritage and all that!). The guys were all in fine tune and looked quite dandy in their slacks and black tops.
Met some really nice (and desperately attractive) fans - which made up for being there on my lonesome (thank you Hugh or Shug if you prefer – nice hair). Morrissey fans are brilliant and beautiful.
Highlight for me was The Loop - can't get better than a big bass rockabilly number! Ganglord was amazing – atmospheric in the extreme, as was How soon is now.
When last I spoke to Carol, One day goodbye will be farewell, I'm okay by myself, I'm throwing my arms around Paris (always a crowd pleaser), Black cloud, Don't make fun of daddy's voice, Ask, Irish blood English heart, and Cemetry gates were all played (in no particular order and the list is not comprehensive).
The traditional 'peeling off of the shirt' by Morrissey revealed a mighty fine torso – the shirt was obviously directed at the man in front of me, but the crowd ensued (and I have a massive bruise on my arm to evidence my part in that invasion – in which I bartered for a cuff).
Thanks for the pink cuff (not a rude reference) and the bruises!
Love to the Irish crowd – hopefully see some of you in Glasgow if/when he plays again!

Funny – getting away with it (Electronic) is on in the background in my hotel – there's always someone bitching and moaning about Morrissey – but I suppose there is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about (Wilde). Tee hee.

Thought he couldn't find the right key for How Soon is Now for the first two verses. He looked uncomfortable during the song.
I also felt the band were a bit sloppy at times. Jesse during Cemetary Gates.
Otherwise all good.

Great Gig (Score:1, Interesting)
Emotional experience (Score:4, Interesting)
As other posters have mentioned, this was his first concert in 18 years at the National Stadium, a venue that's not just the scene of many great Irish boxing victories over the years, but of the first concert of Morrissey's solo career. Alas, I never made it to that one, but so many people in the crowd seemed to have been at it. There was a marked lack of trendy pouty teens at this gig, and loads of older fans. I saw lots of men and women in their 40s and 50s, and many grey quiffs. It was quite moving to see so many people whose lives Morrissey has soundtracked for the last 25 years all in the same place. Hanging around in the bar of the venue - a vast, dimly-lit hall garnished with boxing mementoes, tinsel and sadly-deflated balloons whose decor hasn't changed since c.1964 - I was transported back to the 1980s, and to the heyday, I'm guessing, of a lot of the people at the concert. I half-expected to turn around and see Viv Nicholson, who was at that first Stadium gig in 1991 according to a work colleague of mine who met her at the time.
It's clearly a special venue for Morrissey too, what with the significance of it to his solo career, and its location in his family's heartland of Crumlin/ Dolphin's Barn/ South Circular Road. I saw quite a few VERY old people at the gig too, who I'm sure must have been elder Morrisseys and Dwyers.
America, I envy you - you have it all ahead of you.

He also passed the mic to someone in the front row, who said "You look great, you sound great, and Dublin is very lucky to have you tonight." After taking the mic back, he walked across the stage and said "That's my son"
When introducing Jesse, he said "We're not quite sure what he does"
