"Rock’s ploughed its own furrow for 30 years but still music magazines don’t give rock its due and still rave on about Nick Drake. How many more front covers do Paul McCartney and Morrissey need? Our album will sell more than Morrissey’s so why don’t we get the same kind of respect?"

  • ...umm, because Def Leppard wrote & produced Hysteria with the goal of selling the most copies and making a record that was as accessible as humanly possible on the mass market?

In other words, they were sellouts. Morrissey has class, writes one-of-a-kind songs & has *integrity*... that's why he gets so much reverence.

  • think of all the shit that gets to number1 it sells loads compared to the others but i does not necassarily mean its going to get loads of media attention because it just isnt good, plus i don't think he should be having a pop at them because its not there fault the media give them alot of attention, thats the media's choice really.

  • ...don't worry about it Joe, you've got the money Moz got the kudos...journo's need things to be a little 'alt' and 'cool',especially in America about 5 years after the fact usually... which is ironic because Heavy Metal is so unfashionable it by definition is 'alt' 'cool' 'etc'...hmmm...but then most journo's are middle class wankers that despise Heavy Metal because it's not 'gay' enough...again highly ironic considering the outfits and all male fanbase...hmmm, perhaps someone should look into The Smiths/Metal connections....especially Moz's early 'look'...it could all have been so different if he'd formed The Cult with Duffy...

  • Maybe because Macca and Mozza actually write music that has substance. What has Def Leppard contributed to the musical legacy of the world? Run of the mill stripper songs?

  • That must have been a joke? Why would he ask such a stupid question. Is he really that daft? Maybe because you have inspid songs like "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and you have NO TALENT!!! Mutt Lang produced all your material and should get any credit that is due. Which is very little. Def Leppard SUX!!!!!!!

  • Def Leppard should consider themselves lucky that/if they even make a footnote in the pages of pop music history. Lots of artists, making far better music, won't make it onto those pages at all.
