I hope it's not true, I hate him doing festivals just for the crowd and stuff, I'm always worried that there will be non Moz fans who will effect my enjoyment. i suppose if he has a new album due he may well be doing the festival circuit again, but I would rather he didn't to be honest.

O2 Wireless Festival: Keeping a high profile (Score:1)
Morrissey keeps his profile high by playing these events, even though he used to disdain festivals.
By agreeing to play this, Promoters see him as a high-level act and are more likely to offer favourable terms for his next theatre venue tour to promote his new album.
He gets media coverage in the run-up to the new studio album release.
There's a chance for disappointed Londoners to see him, although it would be nice if they were offered a discount for their previous disappointment. It's not rocket science for SeeTickets/Ticketmaster to tweak their customer database to allow this.
He gets exposure to the audience of the other acts on the bill who may be inspired by his appearance to 'join the club'.
I can't see it being his favourite evening but he's signed a major label deal and a large part of the income stream for any act nowadays is in the live gig arena. Other than signing with a smaller, more independent label (like Radiohead have done with XL) he has to accept some compromises if he wants the marketing push of Big Music behind his releases.
I may go, it depends on the price, supporting acts...and the 5 day weather forecast! Summer in London, eh?
I won't be buying a ticket in advance. You can always pick one up on the night at these events in my experience. And I'll wait until he's actually soundchecked before risking a large amount of dosh for 80mins of showtime.

1 none of morrissey's new stuff is interesting
2 he doesn't bother re-scheduling live shows, despite promises to the contrary
3 a while ago, he let his fans fork out weeks' worth of saved-up money to watch him at a festival before letting them know he wasn't actually playing (just to prove a point with the record label)
4 morrissey is fast becoming a joke
5 even on this site, the tide has turned against morrissey. He is betraying everything he once stood for and is on the verge of being rejected by those of us who loved him in 1999 and 1987 and 2004 and 1994. If he doesn't care, so be it. He can become the new David Showie, only without the money and fanbase. Could be a very lonely existence when the love of his few die-hard fans is exhausted.
