This comment looks rather like this, did you write it or.
No. I understand basic grammar.

7) Louder than Bombs.

25) The World Won't Listen.

This makes no sense at all if you just consider the songs. Maybe it's the artwork or any personal reason we don't know.
I guess it's also how they are compiled. For instance Very Best of is at number #28, which isn't because of the songs but because it was most likely just thrown together without input from Morrissey or any care taken to the sequencing.

And you know this how, exactly? Did they take a poll?

Also...how and when has he endorsed "far right" politics? Yes he espoused vague support for For Britain but in the same breath saying he doesn't really support any party or trust politicians. So basically all that means is that he supports a revision of England's immigration laws, which is ONE facet of For Britain's platform.

He has said that British culture is largely gone because of the vastly changed mixed heritage populace. That makes him racist? Or is he just stating a fact that people don't want to confront? He said the same thing about America's influence on Btitish culture 25 years ago. Did that mean he was anti American? Doubtful, as he MOVED HERE.

"Everyone prefers their own race." I.E. everyone feels most innately attuned to others that are superficially like them. Wow. Such a hateful comment. No. Clumsily worded (arguably) but actually just a blunt, non biased observation. If you have an IQ over 5, you'd reasonably infer that he meant instinctively prefer at the outset.

"You can't help but think of the Chinese as a subspecies in regard to their treatment of animals." That's a paraphrase but the point is that press midwits usually just quote the part "the Chinese are a subspecies." They divorce it from the context he said it in. And if you think that the way the Chinese treat dogs and cats ISN'T barbaric, savage, and inhumane (i.e. LESS THAN HUMAN WITH REGARD TO THE BEHAVIOR) then you're f***ed.

So again please explain how and when he embraced far right, racist politics. This dude who idolized James Baldwin, Maya Angelou, and the Black Panthers. This dude whose biggest fan base (not to mention half of his band at any given time) are Latino. This dude who spent the 2000s mocking George Bush, the right wing leader of the free world. This dude who sells out shows in Latin American countries. This dude who had Thelma Houston duet with him on his last album. This dude who changed a major verse on a classic song to Spanish lyrics. This dude who saturated his Low In High School album with middle Eastern lyrical and musical motifs.

Show me the racism. Show me the far right ethos.

Dummy.
My thoughts exactly.

Whilst it’s not my favourite, of his studio albums, I can understand why Morrissey would place World Peace at the top. It still sounds great and I suspect that, ultimately, it will be remembered as the best of his post-Maladjusted LPs. He probably anticipates that too (I accept that might concern some here).

I agree. It makes perfect sense for him to rate it so highly. And doesn't surprise me at all.
(Especially since he already named it as his favourite in the last interview.)

I also hope that this means he'll go into a more 'experimental', less mainstream-sounding direction on future albums. I like Doggo, it's a great album, but it's a bit too polished, almost slick, for my taste and I grew tired of it relatively quickly.

World peace is none of your business it's certainly the worst

If we strip this list of the comps/live it is not that strange a list:

1) World Peace Is None Of Your Business.
2) Ringleader of the Tormentors.
3) You Are The Quarry.
4) Bona Drag.
5) Vauxhall and I.
6) Your Arsenal.
7) California Son.
8) I Am Not A Dog On A Chain.
9) Years Of Refusal.
10) Low In High School.
11) Southpaw Grammar.
12) Maladjusted.
13) Viva Hate.
14) Kill Uncle.

1) Strangeways, Here We Come.
2) Meat Is Murder.
3) The Queen Is Dead.
4) The Smiths.

Only thing that is really surprising is Viva Hate so low on the list.

It's not that surprising and consistent with what he said 3 years ago.

This does generally fit with comments he's made over the years about his own estimation of his output, though there are some minor surprises that would fit with a minor reshuffle of his judgement. (For instance, he usually, rather tediously, ranks his most recent album highest, but here we have IANaDoaC at number 12. Has a year given him that much perspective?) Of course, it's ridiculous to rank something like Hatful of Hollow so low. That record pretty much made a generation; I don't think the same could be said for any of his recent releases, though I have been listening to IANaDoaC appreciatively in recent weeks.

Merchipedia: "John Riggers was a (fictional) hard-hitting investigative journalist who elicited all of Morrissey's secrets (and more). Uncomfortable guy."

It's not ridiculous for Morrissey. It's no secret that he's not very fond of The Smiths' early work.
I don't get all the fuss about this list.

Dear Moz, please stop putting lists like this on Central.
Just look what happens ^^^ :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh:
Nuff said...Out.

He hates his voice on the Smiths records. The reviews at the time gave him a lot of flack for his singing. And some people still do.

Which is a shame - but between that, the breakup & spending most of those years on three times the recommend dose of valium - he's probably not going warm to it.

My thoughts exactly about VH .....

Also all the above solo albums have been quoted by Morrissey as his best ever upon its release 🤣

Morrissey’s list reflects his take on his music, of course. Reading through it I recalled what Matt Walker had said in a recent interview about Morrissey being truthful to his artistic vision and fearless to stick to it.

I would not rank World Peace first, but it’s certainly one of my favourites. When I first listened to Istanbul, my mind immediately harked back to the documentary Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul, directed by Fatih Akin, which I adored when I saw it. And that connection was enough for me. Love at first listen! I love all songs on the album, except for Kick the Bride Down the Aisle.

I'm sure the list has and will continue to change with time. This is his list and I'm sure his experiences in making the albums, singing them, and the joy he gets from those songs has shaped he view of each album.

I completely get why he ranks his solo work over The Smiths records. It's not always easy thinking of the younger version of yourself and the past, especially once you've changed. Time is the key to perspective.

I completely get this list, just don’t understand why he didn’t include My Early Burglary Years, World of Morrissey or This Is Morrissey. He seemed quite proud of them at the time of release.
