don't forget peeps. :)

haha, great minds..:)

i'm just over excited, we dont get enough progs about them here,
mind you im veyr prepared for the old 'the famously celibate and probably gay lead singer' bit all the way through  only to be expected form journalists i suppose.

1 hour 18 mins...

As I'm stcuk in work on a call out then I will watch tomorrow I guess.m Grrrrr

I was watching last nights repeat about REM, Nirvana & the Pixes.... brought back some memories.

I think, so will tonight....spike island:) quite crap but i was there but i never saw the Smiths:(

Some great behind the scenes footage of before they went on TOTP, and a view from a dressing room window. Girls outside screaming "Morrissey!!!", Johnny sticks his head out of the window and shouts "Girls - he's CELIBATE!!". What a great bit of footage.

Peter

Yep, it's amazing! I want more of them! :)

I went to see Stone Roses in Blackpool Empress Ballroom.
Still gutted to miss their gig at Hacienda in March 1989.
Some of you remember in May 1989 all over the city was covered with sliced lemon posters.

A sad fact widely known
The most impassionate song
To a lonely soul
Is so easily outgrown
But dont forget the songs
That made you smile
And the songs that made you cry
When you lay in awe
On the bedroom floor
And said : oh, oh, smother me mother...
No ...
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring
La ...

The passing of time
And all of its crimes
Is making me sad again
The passing of time
And all of its sickening crimes
Is making me sad again
But dont forget the songs
That made you cry
And the songs that saved your life
Yes, youre older now
And youre a clever swine
But they were the only ones who ever stood by you

The passing of time leaves empty lives
Waiting to be filled (the passing ...)
The passing of time
Leaves empty lives
Waiting to be filled
Im here with the cause
Im holding the torch
In the corner of your room
Can you hear me ?
And when youre dancing and laughing
And finally living
Hear my voice in your head
And think of me kindly
No ...
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring
La ...
No ...
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring

Do you
Love me like you used to ?
Oh ...
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring
La ...

Youre clever
Everybodys clever nowadays
Youre clever
Everybodys clever nowadays

You are sleeping
You do not want to believe
You are sleeping
You do not want to believe
You are sleeping
You do not want to believe
You are sleeping

Nice to see Echobelly on there. Sonia is very nice indeed. Do you remember the story about Morrissey turning up on her doorstep. He'd heard Insomnia and loved them, so decided to pay Sonia a visit. She was very surprised by the visit.

Peter

I love that Echobelly song.

Bit depressing how the story seems to end up with Noel Gallagher boasting about how much money he's made. Sort of sums indie up these days.

Not quite its going to show the fall after Knebworth and the supposed revitalisation with the appearance of The Libertines etc and their gorilla gigs.

Very good but too much noel Gallagher for my liking.

Geez Johnny is looking good for his age.Does he possess the elixir of youth or something?

The first TOTP appearance!!Oh how I remember it.I was open mouthed with admiration and my dad peered over his glasses and his newspaper and mumbled "bloody poof"!! That sealed it for me.:D

I forgot it was on! I was flicking channels and I saw the Man himself staring back at me, so that channel stayed on! Mr. Marr is looking good... he changes his perspective on the Smiths all the time though, which is confusing and frustrating.

Thank you for posting this. I have listened to this song so many times and the words have just washed over me - this is the first time I have paid them so much attention.

Cheers! :D

Agreed! The assumption that 'Indie' music's pinacle was reached when Oasis played Knebworth really pissed me off. I've nothing particular against Oasis, just don't find them anything remarkable.

However, I though the Smiths content was great, particularly the behind the scenes stuff.
