An REM thread for r.e.m. stuff

I don't know if I missed something there, but to me (on a PC) all that was readable was the MPG video of Bad Day live in Spain. I used a program to demux the streams and found out the audio was MP2. Since I already had a fake FLAC of it and would never reencode it as MP3 (why?), I didn't bother replacing.

If you want the MP2 (or the fake FLAC), I can send it.

Sounds like my options are not good. Thanks for taking a look at this. This was actually one of the tracks on the list you sent me, so I guess we live without.

Tried to get it to work on MAC, but no luck. I was hoping to grab the audio from the live video. Anyone able to do that?

Thanks again,

Blister

Blister, these files are several years old, if you use a Mac they'll only work on PPC versions of Mac OS X up to 10.6 Snow Leopard, and only under Rosetta in 10.6 (however you can still play the video files in QuickTime or VLC regardless of what version of OS X you're running).

I uploaded them more for completions sake than anything else.

I actually used to make Enhanced CD-ROM's for Warners, so I might have a look at creating updated Adobe Director Projectors to fire up the main .dxr files. Depends solely on whether older .dxr files will work with an updated Projector file, never looked in to it before, because I've always had access to the original files. May work. May not.

I don't know if I missed something there, but to me (on a PC) all that was readable was the MPG video of Bad Day live in Spain.

For some reason 'Wanderlust' was only created to run on Mac's of the time, there are no .exe projector files. I have no idea why this was the case, when I used to work on Enhanced CD's they had to be cross-platform for Mac & PC. Bit lazy from the production company to be honest, not a whole lot more work to make them cross-platform.

Dude, thanks so much for the explanation. I do have the privilege of using a MAC, which I am typing on, for work, and a PC at home. Kind of had a feeling the technology on my current MacBook was way past the older Enhanced CDROM stuff.

Okay, I've had a quick look, and built a new projector file for the 'Wanderlust' CD, download the file, unzip and copy it into the Enhanced-CD-ROM folder you've already downloaded, don't delete anything. Then double click 'R.E.M. Wanderlust' and it should now work.

Pretty basic ECD to be honest, it's just the video, with basic interface controls & the Wanderlust artwork, and to think, we used to charge about £1500 for these 10 years ago (about 3 hours work... those were the days :) )

Like I said, it's really more for the completist than anything else. I'll look into creating updated Projector files for the other ECD's over the weekend.

This is for Intel Mac's only though, will have to look to see whether I can fix the projectors for Windows (which I don't use).

Hi Guys, i was pointed towards this forum by some of the helpful people at the R.E.M. Murmurs forum.

I'm trying to track these shows down for my girlfriend, any help would be much appreciated:

Belfast 2005: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rem/2005/odyssey-arena-belfast-northern-ireland-33d6a40d.html
Dublin 2003 night 1: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rem/2003/marlay-park-dublin-ireland-1bd6a9ac.html
Dublin 2003 night 2: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rem/2003/marlay-park-dublin-ireland-13d6a9ad.html

I used to be a big trader a few years ago, so have quite a lot of shows to trade, not much R.E.M. though.

My list: http://db.etree.org/kgorman79
This hasn't been updated in quite a few years and I've got a lot of stuff not listed there. If there's anything you might want let me know and i'll check my collection.

Cheers,
Kevin

Unplugged 1991:

Update: this is the show that was brodcast. It is not the full version (I didn't even know there was a "full version" of this, only the one for Unplugged 2001) and it sounds very well, IMHO. Also, I don't know how true the FLACs are, as they all return an "inconclusive" in my software. But it's the only lossless version I have ever seen available. If someone has a better version, I'd be very thankful if I could download it as well.

Awesome, thanks gargumma! And thanks for your comments, everyone. I'll check this out. I'd love to hear the full version if anyone can locate it. Such a great set and performance, with Michael's voice as smooth as butter and really warm. I played the shit outta my original VHS recording of it as a kid. I keep dreaming for them to release it as a bonus add-on to Out Of Time reissue, like Pearl Jam did for Ten. That would be cool.

links dont seem to last very long on here >_<

September Sang was one ive been hearing a lot. but the download link for that was dead too.
has anyone thought to use Dropbox to share files??

i uploaded September Sang on my DropBox if anyone wants to grab it http://bit.ly/TErGsa

I'm looking for a good quality version of September Gurls sung by Mike Mills with Big Star. I haven't come across anything but low sounding audience recordings. Ty.
