April 2011 Mojo

This cover is beautiful but what really interests me is inside... then I don't give importance for the cover.

Is the photo of Morrissey and Marr on the cover a single shot or two photos photoshopped together?

Two photos spliced. Amateurish maybe, but I'd never seen the Morrissey one before so I'm not complaining.

Interesting that The Smiths have two members now. It's like The Who.

Hold on now. It could just be that they're obscured by the cover-mounted CD. And very little. And covered in cheap glue.
Let's wait and see...

I've just bought this issue. I have two spare copies, first come first served, for cost and postage only.

Apart from the seventeen pages of Smithsness be aware of the superlative Dusty Springfield article by Lois Wilson; it includes a beautiful little sidebar appreciation by Johnny Marr, ruminating on her "gothic intensity" and the like, whilst getting in a sly little dig at Lulu, Sandie and Cilla who Johnny could never imagine digging around in a record shop for some vital old 7 inch piece of vinyl. Dusty would dig, apparently

That's kind of you, Joe. That last page, before the taster extract of the profile on Dusty Springfield, shows what Robert Wyatt said, which reportedly met with maximum favour from Morrissey who praised it as the best thing anyone had written about him.

One Tome McGeveran, of Capital NYC, supplies his own little collection of memories and reflections on The Queen is Dead:

Thank you very much joe frady, for taking the time to scan and for sharing!!

Thanks for posting the scans Joe, very worthwhile and much appreciated. I'd barely turned 16 when The Smiths rolled into Irvine. My brother was on stage as a hired hand to repel the invaders. It was quite a high stage as I remember, total bedlam really. I lost a shoe, which says it all. We ended up going to Edinburgh as well, but with seats it wasn't quite the same. The Magnum bootleg is still my favourite to this day.

There's an interview with Craig Gannon in the latest issue, Noel Gallagher on the front, probably not in the shops yet but I got it in the post today.
