Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey after his endorsement of far-right politics
Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey.

The 62-year-old musician has publicly criticised the 60-year-old singer for his endorsement of far-right politics and he believes the former Smiths frontman has "burned too many bridges" for redemption.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Billy said: "I wish there was a way back for him. As a Smith's fan and as an anti-racist activist, I wish.
"I worry that he may have burned too many bridges, though."
Billy responded to Morrissey's comments in 2019, whereby he claimed "everyone ultimately prefers their own race" when addressing the allegations of racism he has been faced with.
The 'Full English Brexit'' singer hit back after hearing the comments as he was "heartbroken" for Smiths fans.
He said at the time: "I think he's decided that he wants to betray everything he ever said in the Smiths, and he's broken the hearts of a lot of people..."
And, although it hasn't stopped Billy from listening to the Smiths' music, he won't be tuning into Morrissey's solo catalogue anytime soon.
He added: "I'll listen to The Smiths, but I was never into [his solo stuff] anyway."

That's helpful. Now you all know who to avoid. AND what's with the Americanism 'pin'. What an ass!!! I"m doubting those Scottish credentials of hers. Pin, urgh!

Who died and made this Billy Barf king of the world?

Just another nobody who wants to ride the Morrissey wave for his own personal fame & glory.

Why would you wear that? You might as well wear a Swastika. It's all the same.

I took pity on The Communist Party when they were selling stuff on Buchanan Street & everyone was ignoring them.

My Grandpa was in The Communist Party & my Dad's a revolutionary socialist. They used to fight constantly about tiny ideological differences & I would wind Dad up by always taking Grandpa's side.

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm fond of the Soviet Union's iconography.

I used to like BB but these past few years he's becoming embarrassing, popping up here & there slagging people just for self-promoting purposes & raising his own profile. I've got rid of most of his music that I had as I just can't tolerate him these days. He doesn't speak to, or for me any more.

Like Lemmy, Bowie and Joy Division/New Order I'm quite fond of Nazi iconography. It's power and coolness can't be denied.

The fascist Italian Futurists were quite cool too.

Oh Brag, just f*** off you fool. Get a grip.
If you don't like Moz, then don't talk about him. Raising your own profile off the back of Moz. Nothing else to talk about apart from historic garbage. FRO.

Bragg would only give a ISIS member a second chance or a London gang member who used acid on peoples faces. As if flaming socialists ever set the agenda or had any kind of power over judging others professionally.
They should get a job first cause guess what Billy Bragg hasn't worked a day in his life. On top of that he has made the worst music ever known to man whereas someone like Bongo from U2 at least made some catchy political tunes.
When mediocrity criticise a legend in this way you can only laugh at it all. Billy Bragg would give his life and his mother and more for just one song from Moz's catalogue.
ESAAAA???????BIEN DICHO BILLY BRAGG WOO IS NO EXISTES!!!!!!

There's no way back for Billy Bragg, not that he was ever there in the first place.

'Tank Park Salute' is worth a listen for those unfamiliar with the self-styled Bard of Barking but his recent albums are pretty awful. I'm not sure I ever truly believed his 'I'm a proper socialist, me' rhetoric...
Music is a matter of taste, of course.

I’ve been a Billy Bragg fan since ‘84 because my Brit friend’s older brother was devout. First saw him in ‘86 and met him after the show. He spent a good hour+ with us. We talked about love, life and politics. It was conversation, not a lecture. ...and my girlfriend and I were 15 years old. He treated us with the utmost respect and was as interested in listening Tom our young views as he was in talking. Really made an impression. Not many grown-ups take the time to listen to the impassioned views of the young.

I got side-tracked by the times after “Don’t Try This at Home” and lost touch with a few of his releases but then gave them a chance, after seeing him again 2 years ago. He really is a gift. Nobody like him musically or personally.

You’d never say a bad thing about him, after meeting and speaking with him. He’s real and transparent.

His work is vast and varied, although a bit on the traditional troubadour side, for some. He’s worked with and paid tribute to so many folk/political artists. Always in his own style. He’s not the greatest singer or guitarist but he sure is a firecracker, filled with love and passion for humanity. His words are poignant and heartfelt. His delivery is raw and honest.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion. Everyone is welcome to comment on the opinions of others.
Not everyone has the class required to live by both of these standards and still make people listen and think.

Billy does.

I still love and respect him for the patience and decency he showed me all those years ago. It’s burned into my being. ...and - despite the nice house in the country that he’s worked so hard to earn, he’s still the same William Bloke I met back then.

I've never listened to him. Not even at rallies. I think I've heard a song of his that Kirsty McCall covered.
How perfectly disingenuous and passive-aggressive of you.

I've never listened to the Smiths. I think I've heard a song of theirs that Kirsty McCall covered.

I'm back to not looking at the Anons. Just to save yourself the bother.

I can't see Bragg without raging at the state of The Labour Party, so I thought I'd check what was being said.

It wasn't worth it.
Then don’t f***ing look, kiddo. You’ve got nothing to add but fawning jibber-jabber with a gob-ful of felched detritus anyway.

what a cuck billy bragg.? NO talent and
he is well know for sucking on???s
^ Jesus f***! Is the translator on the way, or not? The pizza-pops, toaster-strudel, nachos, fake cheese packets and lack of sunlight this individual consume are clearly taking their toll.

Been several weeks since this spoon-fed, momma’s boy got out into the yard for some sunshine.

He’s just wallowing in his mom’s basement, spouting nonsense and weak insults at people.

I’m most concerned with his closeted love of Johnny Marr. His rampant emoji insults are the work of a pre-schooler from the short-bus crew. His obsession with Johnny is creepy, at best. It may be something more.

Perhaps a call to the authorities is warranted? If this sad, lonely sack of shit can’t reign in his needy bullshit, the state can take care of him, for his own good. ...and ours.

Hovis! This is the pin I'll be wandering about with at Wembley. Come & say hi if you spot me (as I'm brutally murdered by far right Irish lesbian feminist vegans - the world's most numerous demographic).

True message of pin ....

How the middle class live, eh? I was expecting some reference to the People's Front of Judea.

I took pity on The Communist Party when they were selling stuff on Buchanan Street & everyone was ignoring them.

As someone who purports to work in PR and communications you have a peculiar way of constructing a sentence. You watched them, selling their stuff, so not everybody was ignoring them.
