An agency story has appeared on a couple of websites reporting Billy Bragg's apparent further comments on Morrissey's "endorsement of right-wing politics."

Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey after his endorsement of far-right politics
Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey.

The 62-year-old musician has publicly criticised the 60-year-old singer for his endorsement of far-right politics and he believes the former Smiths frontman has "burned too many bridges" for redemption.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Billy said: "I wish there was a way back for him. As a Smith's fan and as an anti-racist activist, I wish.
"I worry that he may have burned too many bridges, though."
Billy responded to Morrissey's comments in 2019, whereby he claimed "everyone ultimately prefers their own race" when addressing the allegations of racism he has been faced with.
The 'Full English Brexit'' singer hit back after hearing the comments as he was "heartbroken" for Smiths fans.
He said at the time: "I think he's decided that he wants to betray everything he ever said in the Smiths, and he's broken the hearts of a lot of people..."
And, although it hasn't stopped Billy from listening to the Smiths' music, he won't be tuning into Morrissey's solo catalogue anytime soon.
He added: "I'll listen to The Smiths, but I was never into [his solo stuff] anyway."

Let's wait to see when the next full UK tour is announced. If there is a next UK tour it'll be in significantly smaller venues and ticket sales will tell us all what we've been speculating about for months.

I think there's a way back - apologising - but that's never going to happen.

For the f***wit Nerak ....

Billy Bragg

"While I support the Chief Rabbi in his determination to confront anti-semitism expressed by members of the Labour Party and recognise his right as their spiritual leader to warn his flock of the dangers that he perceives from that quarter, I fear that he may have overstepped the mark when calling upon “every person to vote with their conscience” in an article arguing that Jeremy Corbyn is unfit to be Prime Minister."

For the f***wit Anon - Jeremy is one of the members of the Labour Party who has been confronted over anti-semitism. Anyone is within their rights to argue that makes him unfit to be Prime Minister without being told they've overstepped the mark.

And that twitter row did us more damage & got more traction than the Chief Rabbi's article.

Hilarious, like anyone really gives a shit what BB thinks...about anything?
I was bored before he even began.
@davidt can we have a new reaction icon something like 'ZZZZ' or 'Zzzz' (maybe angled downwards left to right at 45 degrees) for boring non-entity type items such as these?
Cheers.:thumb:

Anyone know why Billy has an obsession with a man whose solo work he never listens to?
In this instance at least, it doesn't so much look like an obsession as a person with a microphone asking him a question about Morrissey.

The great thing about Morrissey is that he will burn a bridge while standing on it AND still somehow manages to survive.

More f***wittery. For someone who claimed she would focus on 2 things work and Morrissey she seems to have derailed herself: Billy Bragg, anti-Semitism, the Labour party and that's just this thread!

Probably because they knew he had opinions on him. I was wondering why, when they're not working in the same genre & I can't find anything about a falling out.

Although I think Billy Bragg's opinions on Morrissey are fairly worthless, I would advise anyone asking "who is this twat anyway?" or "never heard of him" or some variation thereof, to listen to his back catalogue, from the first EPs up to William Bloke. I consider him one of the best of the 80s into the 90s. Johnny Marr contributed guitar to a few of his songs.

But unlike Morrissey, Billy Bragg couldn't sustain things into the new millennium. He doesn't have anything close to a You Are the Quarry or Years of Refusal, and his voice has mellowed while Morrissey's gets stronger with age. As for the music, that's an unfortunate situation. Billy Bragg seems to favor softie, countrified acoustic guitars nowadays, which is no great shakes itself, but musically two of the new tracks from Morrissey's upcoming record sound like an 80s danceteria. No bueno. I think Bragg ekes out a minor win there. But he is a typical leftie socialist, forever banging on about human rights in our first world countries, yet (as an earlier poster asked) where is he when it comes to the animals? Nowhere to be found. I'd rather be a human living below the poverty line in the US or the UK than a dairy cow, or a pig in a factory farm. So Billy Bragg can screw off in terms of opinion, whereas I still think Morrissey's greatest talent these days is his political, social, and cultural commentary. He should articulate his thoughts at length in a blog, in his masterly writing style, instead of giving out random and sometimes inchoate snippets.

Back reading and replying to Anon comments What a f***ing surprise! ALL of your words ring hollow

You'll miss me when I'm gone.
You'll miss me when I'm gone.

But if you never go how can we miss you? You're the definition of troll. You mew that you've put every anonymous on ignore but here you are replying to anonymous users unable to keep your enormous mouth shut. It's the height of stupidity. Show so bloody self-control. It just goes to show that your announcement of " I'm ignoring" were just desperate attempts to draw attention to yourself.

You work for the Labour Party!? If you're an example of the calibre of worker it has no wonder it got royally f***ed at the elections.

I'm back to not looking at the Anons. Just to save yourself the bother.

I can't see Bragg without raging at the state of The Labour Party, so I thought I'd check what was being said.

It wasn't worth it.

Does Billy Bragg have a way back from telling the Chief Rabbi he overstepped the mark in speaking out about anti-semitism in the Labour Party?
I think he retracted that just days after he said it. Clarity isn’t his strong point.

When he got a lot of push-back - but it was too late. Between that, The Guardian editorial, Owen's crew telling 'centrist melts' to f*** off to The Tory Party (they did), the suicidal need of some activists to keep tweeting rage & hate at a Countdown presenter & an actress, & the endless sharing of neo-Nazi memes that our members appeared to be too dim to recognise as neo-Nazi, we had no hope.

Ineffective doorstepping & obnoxious social media.

It's been heartbreaking.

Do we have your word on that?

You’re now back to “not looking at” ALL anonymous users? I note you don’t say ignore or block? Interesting.

We ALL know how fickle your word is so I thought it best to check. You’ve proven yourself to be relentlessly unreliable on this matter.

Perhaps you should attempt to paint yourself as a ‘victim’ again? Maybe not. That backfired quite spectacularly, didn’t it?

I would say cheerio but everyone knows that you haven’t gone anywhere and will continue to troll anonymous posters. You’re too much of a gossip to be able to keep your beak out.

I'm narky about it because Bragg is a proper activist, demonising an eccentric, while our own party is dying on its arse.
