Has Morrissey coming out a racist resulted in more fans?

No.

But it's hilarious. He hired a crisis management firm because AMANDA HOLDEN slagged him off & has 'come out' to counter the bad publicity - while Moz is being called a Nazi & is doing NOTHING.

Still, Moz survives. It's miraculous really.

So, like, he pulled a Kevin Spacey but he’s actually a nobody game show host?

Tbf, most people survive being called a Nazi. Even Klaus Barbie lived to a ripe old age, babbling on to himself about how the term had become meaningless.

Moz survives?
If you call losing 60% of your British fanbase within 18 months 'survival' then, yes, he has.
If you call announcing your smallest ever tour but getting nowhere near to selling out the two venues 'survival', again he has.
And if you call releasing what appears to be another album of similar quality to the last few but having virtually every single radio station in the UK refuse to play any songs off it then, yes, more miraculous survival!
Presumably, your definition of survival is literal i.e. staying alive?

He's still recording, still touring, is slowly getting mentioned in a positive or neutral way despite his absolute monstering & no crisis management.

He is surviving. And his reputation can be rebuilt over time.

His 'absolute monstering' is due entirely to him giving his unequivocal support to a far-right political party. A move that has left anyone who ever fell in love with the true spirit of The Smiths utterly gobsmacked. He is not 'still recording'. He was recording with a record deal that has now ended. A record deal that was signed before Morrissey decided to instruct anyone who'd ever followed him to give their political support to a party that protects the richest people in society through massive tax cuts, denies the existence of a climate crisis, and vows to spend billions more on the military. Utterly f***ing unbelievable.

It's a crank party. It has zero importance. It's odd that he loves Anne Marie enough to mention her party once, wear the pin twice & post a dodgy open letter to his Facebook page, but it's not serious political activity.

In The Smiths he sang about shoplifting, burning your homework & being inept. He hasn't betrayed the true spirit at all.

The monstering is OTT.

And he's got an album coming out. It hasn't been cancelled. No one who works closely with him has felt the need to dump him. No terrible stories have emerged.

I'd rather it had never got to this, but it'll work itself out.

Morrissey hasn't been the victim of any monstering, much as he invites the brainless constituency of his fans to accept the misdirection that he's being crucified by the Guardian.

His demise in the UK happened on social media and by word of mouth. When he came out for For Britain, he immediately trended on Twitter for about three days. That's by far the biggest publicity boost he's ever had. He was f***ed before the traditional media had chance to comment. Occasional negative online opinion pieces read by a few hundred people are tiny beer in the scheme of things.

I was counting social media as part of the monstering.
