Morrissey A-Z: "(The) Public Image"

from the Ice Age to the dole age
Lazy and forgettable non-song. Very poor vocal melody, it sounds like 50 other Moz songs from the same era.

It feels like a very similar vocal melody to Christian Dior, neither song does much musically and what's a song without music?
I later realized that it was closer to Christian Dior than to This is not your country.
Both are fine b- sides imo, though not the most original soundwise.

Always liked this song and a few other Quarry b sides like Friday Mourning too.
One interesting line is where he sings
"I had a love and she was...."
How many other songs does her mention a female love?

Gregor Samsa

I straighten up, and my position is one of hope.

Yeah. He had rarely if ever been that explicit before nor has he since.

Yeah. He had rarely if ever been that explicit before nor has he since.

‘I’m a girl and you’re a boy’

I think we can safely assume that in
a Morrissey song, she and he are interchangeable.

Then again, by singing/using the word ‘she’ he is, even in this song,
playing with his public image, the image his fans have of him.
