Morrissey abuse on YOR tour

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

These days people sit at home on their computers and hurl abuse with no consequences all the time. Maybe in a darkened arena they still feel safe enough to keep acting like idiots, thinking they'll be lost in the crowd.

Just more proof of the decay of humanity -- worldwide.

I watched the video footage.
Morrissey handled the situation beautifully. Lights up, call the idiots out. Perfectly in control the whole time.
Where is the video, dearie?

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

I was just talking today about how it sucks that some people at moz shows act so stupid that I actually want to hit them. And then I log on to see something like this happens. There is no hope in modern life...

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

16th May Cambridge Corn Exchange a heckler was thrown out from the venue.

I remember 23rd May Manchester Apollo white trainers were thrown at the stage (didn't hit anyone on stage).

Anker already mentioned that 15th June in Odense, a similar incident as Cambridge happened.

White trainers thrower! Right in front of me. :( Asshole....

from pjlm

21 September 1997
Lakewood Civic Auditorium, Cleveland, OH

After "Paint A Vulgar Picture" someone shouted "Johnny did it better!" which prompted Morrissey to retort "No he didn't". But this was only the tip of the provocation to come. A few bars into the last song of main set someone in the audience lifted a sign saying "Joyce 1, Morrissey 0" (an allusion to the previous year's court case which Morrissey lost). After reading this Morrissey stopped singing and walked off stage, taking Boz with him. Boz then had Johnny and Spencer follow him while Alain fingered the offender with both hands and shouted "You just ruined the gig". Security escorted the Smiths-shirt-wearing troublemaker outside so the concert could resume, but perhaps also because the angry crowd wanted to lynch him. Then Morrissey returned to the stage to perform the planned encore "Shoplifters Of The World Unite" without mentioning the incident.

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

He threw them from the balcony? Well, you gotta give him credit for a good throw. That's a pretty far gap.:lbf:

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

positively surprised:

in a cool, almost relaxed tone of voice
a precise, 'smash their heads in'

not an angry or vengeful tone in his voice

Wow.

(which is baffling myself because I am rather the pacifist gentle type. But) this was sheer elegance

Chapeu!, Moz

Although...

A number of years ago I took "a walk in the desert," but a few days before I got there I had to be sort of cuckoo and mingle with society which constantly effed with me in order to stir up my hackles or whatever. One incident was I used the remaining balance of my credit card to rent a motel room so I could sleep and shower after having not done so for a number of days. THe desk attendant gave me the key which went to a room that didn't exist. I searched forever for the room and it wasn't lack of sleep, it was a utility closet. I nearly lost it with rage, I threw the key and screamed in the parking lot, but do you know what the lesson was? To remain calm, not incite the idiots to act that way and your own calmness enrages them to a point where they can do nothing but be submissive, it's weird. So I say good on continuing the concert which wouldn't have happened years ago but maybe not so good on promoting face bashing.

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

On second thought, throwing a bottle is very dangerous, kind of an asshole thing to do. He could've been knocked out. (Yet another reason I...you know how I feel.) I suppose I might've reacted the same.

I'm no Gandhi, just passing on what I experienced in crazytown. Heck, when I woke up to the news that Morrissey gives good cunnilingus, I threw a Nalgene bottle across the room and nearly broke the living room window. :blushing: Perhaps the same forces at work.

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

There's a link on the homepage in the comments. It's kinda blurry.

I love stern Moz.

Thank you. :)

So do I! He once told me to shut up. It was thrilling! :horny:

I love your posts and comments.

That sounded sarcastic, but it's not. I promise.

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

it werent the punkest fing he's ever done. throw a kid out for moshing and hurling a beer.
it were a beer, old man, not a can o' paint , nor a bucket of gasoline.
if it had happened to kim jong il at a rally, that kid would've had his entire family executed. so i guess, in a sense, moz is being less douchey.

to be honest, i think its f***ing great he got beer bombed ! viva la revolution.

Re: Morrissey abuse on this tour...

why they do this kind of things? i mean throwing things at morrissey is disrespectful,he always gives a great show.is simple if they don`t like morrissey then don`t go to his shows, don`t pay a ticket to see him, save your money for a show you like.ok maybe they don`t like his music but attended because they had to but you can`t just throw things at people like that,is dangerous, what if the knocked him or hit him in the head? this kind of behaviour is PATHETIC!

Can you explain why you feel this way? I'd like to argue with you a little bit about this, but first I'd like to understand your position a bit better.

if i was a rock star and had millions of dollars and 20 years of fame and power, and some little kid threw a beer on stage , probably out of excitement and it splashed over my favorite vivienne westwood dress that i think makes me look super hot, but in fact makes me look super porky, i would definately not stop the show and incite a riot crowd, i'd either strip to my la perlas and keep going or excuse myself and go change and then keep going. i mean morrissey is just so. not. punk. ugh.

ps.. im not inclined to have an argument with you.

pps.. just as much as it was not nice of the kid to chuck a beer , its NOT NICE of morrissey to incite the crowd to smash his face in. SO. f***ED . UP.
