So really, he should be thanking the Simpsons for raising his profile?
It hasn't done any harm. Yet. When does that episode air in the UK?

Can you actually lose followers on Spotify? I keep on adding bands and artists I follow, but I don't think I have ever "unfollowed" any. The monthly listener numbers can of course go up and down, which makes them a more reliable indicator of popularity.

I'm not sure that the 'monthly listeners' number has much value really. From what I've read, it's the number of 'unique listeners' who have listened to that artist in a 28-day rolling window. This means that it does not take into account how many tracks a listener has listened to, merely that they have been served at least one track. The other point is that some users (me included) listen to a lot of personalised playlists automatically generated by Spotify (e.g. Daily Mixes), so many of these unique listeners may not have selected to listen to Morrissey but merely been served one of more of his tracks by one of the algorithms that Spotify uses to generate such things. As a measure of popularity I think these 'monthly listener' numbers aren't very useful at all.
I've no idea because I don't have access to Spotify's detailed breakdown of who has been listening to what, how they've been listening, and why.But like Fwd's post points out, how come Morrissey's Listener figures are higher in the past week than 2019 onwards?

Ah, we hate it when our Moz is successful.
We hate it when our Moz is hateful.
You love it when you can lie about him.
He has said hateful things. He skirts the line. Prove me otherwise.
Btw, this doesn't change the fact that he is a great lyricist.
Not even a trial by Simpsons will change that.
We hate it when our Moz is hateful.
I perpetually put up the proof that he's taken out of context & someone on here will repost the paraphrase because that's what they want to believe.
The Simpsons social media backtracked & the Sunday Times didn't even bother pretending it was about anything other than his inability to do normal publicity.
