Technical question - You just haven't/Stretch out versions

To be honest, I hadn't noticed just how radically different YJHEIJB was on the original The World Wont Listen and Louder Than Bombs albums until listening back to back. The mix on the original Louder Than Bombs is totally different to the one on The World Wont Listen. Less guitar overdubs, and lots of reverb swooshing about (eg: some backwards 'whoosh' comes swooping after the first "I'll tell you why", and Morrissey's voice totally farts out and distorts on the final note as there are so many effects on it).

I think it's this version that Johnny is talking about re varispeed etc, as on the new 2011 remastered 'Louder Than Bombs', that mix appears to have been completely replaced with the same one that's on 'The World Won't Listen'. As with 'The Boy With The Thorn' - it's by far the better version, but for completists it would have been nice to have both, so I guess the lesson is hang on to your old copies when you update to the new ones!

As I am interested in all technical issues and differences between the versions of songs by The Smiths and Moz solo with band.

I noticed there ARE, sometimes big differences and even comparisons between CD and vinyl left me dropping my jaw (the lower one) to the ground.
Unfortunately, I only have The World Won't Listen and Strangeways on vinyl.
I was considering buying as much of all the music available on vinyl cause every time I listen to music on vinyl I think it sounds so much better, played on the right equipment and with all the good stuff you need to get it out of the grooves.

But, it would become a very costly operation and I don't have the money for it, as much as I had once. I was really into all high-end stuff, turntables, speakers, pre and end amplifiers, cables and the whole range of options to get a better sound. I dreamt of Mark Levinson amplifiers, Martin Logan electrostatic speakers etcetera, etcetera.

I went to specialised shops with friends for listening sessions.
It was like a religious ritual, and very satisfying, but dissapointing if you listened to music on your own stuff.
The only time I rely preferred CD above vinyl was with a Wadia CD combination.

But now, as I get older and my hearing gets less I don't consider it useful for me.
But, if I had the money I would do it cause the difference it makes is almost unbelievable.
I know for sure a lot of the Smiths and Moz music, if listened too on the right equipment would surprise fans and re-appreciate the music on hearing complete other and different music.

I still reckon LTB mix is different for You just haven't...but then can you or anyone with the original Shoplifters 12" conform if the actul B-side is the LTB or the other version?

You Just Haven't Earned It Yet, Baby was never a B side. It was only ever an "extra track" on The World Won't Listen, previously unavailable before then. The mixes on TWWL and LTB always sounded very different to me and I'm pretty rubbish at telling different mixes apart.
