There Is A Light That Never Goes Out among the best 50 love songs of all times...

Steven Patrick I Love You
... according to Entertainment Weekly magazine... Dunno if it was a poll or just a personal review, but when I read the news I was so hoping to see Morrissey in it, and he wasn't solo, but there they were The Smtihs... In place 38... Better than nothing :)

Many of them are just despicable crap (Beyoncé? Mary J. Blige? Hello!)... But you know, when have they been fair to us?

Oh my God. I never realized "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was a play on "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tennille! Who said Ian didn't have a sense of humor?

Thanks for compiling the list; I got bored clicking through them one by one after about 4 songs.

"A Case of You" deserves to be much higher up that list, maybe in the top 5. But I'm ecstatic that they picked McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed," which never seems to be given the same attention as McCartney's other work, both with and without that 60s band that he was in.

And why "Just Like Heaven" instead of "Love Song" for The Cure's pick?
Or "Purple Rain" instead of "Forever in My Life" for Prince's?
Marshall Crenshaw's "T.M.D." or "Television Lights" also deserves to be on that list somewhere, if only he weren't criminally underrated.

You're very welcome...

I've never understood the criteria they use to make these lists... I don't know either if it was a readers poll...

Lists like this that are compiled by Mainstream presses..are just stupid and pointless....

I Know It's Over is of course, the best one ever written

Those fools obviously don't know what they are typing about. Surely There is a light should be TOP 5, not just top 50!?!?!?!? :p

Show me show me show me show me how you do that trick!

I Love The Cure, happy to see this up there too. I do love Love Song too, but this is just a kicking moving tune - you would have to be dead no to feel good listening to it!

Your just like a dream!

Snow Patrol, Beyonce, Guns'N'Roses...and Paul McCartney

Appauling list. Truely.

Aww come on, "Maybe I'm Amazed" is a fantastic song :)

Just before I became a Morrissey fan I really loved Maybe I'm Amazed... Such incredible love lyrics and powerful music.

You know what, now that I'm reading the list, some of the choices are awful indeed, but I was thinking what a beautiful song is "Something" and how incredible it would sound in Morrissey's voice... But then he would be speaking of love for a "she", which could be quite weird for him... But anyway, I just imagined it as a cover by Morrissey and I know it would sound mesmerizing.

Surely there are some worthy songs that didn't come out in the 80s? :)

I'm not advocating these as the best, just stating my favorites...

Actually, several of those are from the 90's...

Solace Of You - 1990
Guardian Angel - 1990
Some Distant Memory -1990
Don't Let Go - 1990
The Stairs - 1990
Near Wild Heaven - 1991
Is This - 1990
Best Years Of Our Lives - 1994

I can't help it if I find most bands that have come out in the past 15 years...annoying and/or nauseating

I mean what the hell is this crap calling themselves Fountains Of Wayne and Blink 182? Utter Crap

Call me insane but The More you Ignore Me is NOT a love song.I think its actually the opposite.May be I`ve interpreted it wrong.
