I've never seen that review before so thanks for posting. Ironic seeing that I brought a Depeche Mode album this week! I certainly won't be buying the Moz album, not for any political reasons, more for the fact it's yet another compilation album and I own most of the tracks multiple times.

Depeche Mode had a whole list of quotes on the sleeve of their first singles compilation, some complimentary but many not so. Stuff like 'I've heard more melody coming out of Kenny Wheeler's arsehole - Paul Weller'. I actually think it sends a strong message that they felt secure enough to do that. It would be pretty cool, IMO, for Morrissey or anyone else to have sleevenotes that were just unremittingly savage from beginning to end. The standard isn't-this-artist-just-the-best-thing-ever is a bit pointless and cringe-inducing.

This must've been written early 80s, when the band was very different to what they gradually evolved into. I wonder what his views on them were later on. Probably not complimentary, I'm guessing, which is a shame. I've always thought quite a number of Depeche Mode songs sounded quite suitable for Morrissey to cover. I could always imagine him singing songs like Blasphemous Rumours, World in My Eyes, and Enjoy the Silence. I'll need to find the alternative universe where these cover versions happened.

Is it true that Morrissey is now signed to Sony BMG? When I think of Sony BMG I think of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, David Bowie and George Michael who have all sadly died now. They were all signed to Sony at one point. In fact Michael Jackson owned part of Sony.

The singer Meat Loaf, Billy Joel and Mariah Carey are all still alive. I think that they were all signed to Sony at one point.

Sadly, there are only three major record labels left they are the Universal Music Group (which I think is the biggest), Sony and Warner Bros. and they all own lots of subsidiary labels.

I'm glad that Morrissey seems to have good management behind him. I hope that he has a good record deal. I wish Morrissey well. I want him to do well. I love his new album "Low in High School" so much. This new completion of Morrissey's solo work "This Is Morrissey" looks great too.

I was looking at Mozza's Wikipedia page after The Smiths ended he has been signed to 15 different record labels over the years. This is the list:
