Top 10 Favorite Bands or Singers

I find them hard to compare, to me it's a bit like The Smiths and Morrissey. I like Stanley Road and Wildwood a lot, maybe as much as anything from the Jam. I like the fact that, like Morrissey, his lyrical content "aged" with him and he's singing from the different perspective now.

That's a great point to make. I, too, like Morrissey for the ways he's changed over the years. It's weird, I can hear that Weller is a better songwriter as a solo artist but I'm afraid my heart-- and my feet-- will always be with The Jam. I suppose the main difference is that Morrissey, though he changed, stayed within the same basic musical template as The Smiths, whereas Weller took a different direction altogether, one I liked but didn't really fall in love with.

Similar downward arc to Sting and The Police, actually. The Police I intensely disliked but when Sting went solo I truly hated him.

Anyway, Weller solo is excellent-- but as you know, Top Ten lists are sacred things. *eyeroll*
