Apparently they're coming to protest outside of Rutgers Hillel...at like 8 in the morning. I'm sure that'll totally make an impact on hungover college students:thumb:

Hillel has released a statement on it as well:

I plan to go and protest with the Jewish people defending Hillel. I mean, I'm not Jewish but these people are sick (they hate Catholics too, so I suppose that can also be my driving force)

In case no one has heard of these whackjobs, their website is: www.godhatesfags.com

they literally make me ill:sick:

I hope it all collapses when the evil old bastard at the head of the "Church" finally pops his clogs, but I can't see it, unfortunately. They're clearly all sick in the head, and together they form a pretty strong argument for secularism.

They really need help.

They hate Ireland as well.:thumb:

When I tried to access their s(h)ite in work, I got the following message from IT.

"The Websense category "Racism and Hate" is filtered."

After reading the article I was confused as to why they would be coming to RU to protest. I asked myself...To protest what?!!!

Finally I realized they could be protesting this: "...participating in a dialogue between Christians, Muslims and Jews".

Why is an open dialogue between these 3 faiths, in a student center of a college in New Jersey, reason to travel many states away to protest?

At any rate, do update us MR. I'll be interested to see what happens. Also, be careful out there!

They're completely sick and should all be locked up. Saw a documentary about them somewhen, couldn't believe what I was seeing.

They also hate Scandinavia as far as I know, because gay marriage is legal here.

I feel sorry for their children who have been born into it, brainwashed from day one, so they probably will never be able to develop an uninfluenced way of thinking and thereby own opinions.

Yeah, we're not allowed to talk to them or really "Protest" back. We're just going to be singing songs about Love and Peace to drown out their hate speech.

They're afraid if we legit protest back, they will enfuriate us and we will hurt them. They make money off of suing for infringing upon their rights. They're afraid that these idiots will sue Hillel if we in any way protest back.

You could mock them and be peaceful about it. Like do spoofs of their hateful catch phrases that have no relation to today's protests, just so they know you guys think they are a joke.

For example, a halloween themed banner that reads "God hates fangs". Yes stole that from True Blood but its funny and why the hell not.

Hahaha, yes this is true.

If you check their website, you'll notice they are apparently HUGE Beatles fans. All of their hate songs (well, most of them) are to the tune of Beatles songs. My favorite happens to be "Hey Jews"

Edit: Just checked the facebook event for the counter protest. Westboro Baptist is bringing 10 protesters. 1,478 Rutgers students are confirmed to attend the counter protest :thumb:

That's disgusting. I bet John Lennon is rotating in his grave everytime they defile a Beatles song.

If I was in your area I'd definetely come and protest.

probably best to just ignore them. i'm sure the bigger the counter protests the better for them. gets them more publicity.

The hype given to this people is absolutely asinine.

Documentary makers in the UK are particularly guilty of going on "oh my god will you look at these crazy arseholes" sight-seeing trips to look at these shysters because it is just so easy.

There are countless virulently homophobic preachers dotted around the US (and to a lesser extent Europe) but nobody really cares. These people have only become news because they go that one step further and attack not just minorities, but sacred cows like the military and the country itself.

Falwell, Robertson et al are equally as disgusting but they just have the good sense to avoid questioning things that the majority hold as sacred.

The Westboro cult has the sum total of no political or cultural power, as opposed to mainstream evangelical preachers, but I guess a freak show is always more entertaining.

These people are also travelling and making a very public spectacle of themselves.
