In his book: "Fathomless Riches: Or How I Went From Pop to Pulpit" (2014), he recounts:

I have always liked stories that reveal the vainglory and silliness of pop bands, stories about ridiculous demands on the rider, or terrible behaviour. One of my favourites came from the Red Wedge Tour when someone said they kept bumping into members of the Smiths’ road crew clandestinely eating burgers in McDonald’s because Morrissey, a strict vegetarian, did not permit his employees to consume flesh. This probably just meant that the tour catering was vegetarian but it was a good story and suited the myth of Morrissey’s high-handedness and grand manner. I don’t know if it was true or not, but I did see how quickly these stories got around.

Via The Guardian in 2022, regarding "the song I can no longer listen to", he said:

"This Charming Man. Much as I like the song, Morrissey has ceased to be charming for me."
