He came, he saw, he conquered. No duet with Siouxsie, but their set was fabulous as well. To see her and Morrissey one after the other was a dream.
As you can see the setlist is almost identical to the Yuma concert bar November Spawned A Monster and Speedway being changed around.
Moz was in sparkling form and the band played very much as I had expected after reading the posts on the various websites. It was an evening to remember.
I happened to like all of the new songs, though "I Like You " was probably the weakest, but his vocal melody was great.
The crowd was not so large..probably no more than 2000, but they were devoted and sometimes vocal between the songs. After they played "The World is Full Of Crashing Bores", someone shouted, "What is a Crashing Bore?" in thick Japanese accent, to which Moz replied, "Trust me, you don't need to know..you're too young to know!".
After the show I managed to see the girls from Morrisseytour.com and Ambitious Outsiders.com

I tried taking photos without a flash, for fear of the camera nazis...but they turned out blurry...grrr. Then the camera nazi got me trying to get a good shot and promptly tried to take camera off me. I had to promise him not to use it so I didn't have to part with it.

Anyway, despite this it was fab and I envy the MT and AO crews moving on to see the Tokyo show.

      Yes, sorry, "There Is A Light.." was the encore, and it was dedicated to Elvis directly - "This is just one more song for Elvis"

      Before ?gThe World is Full of Crashing Bores,?h Morrissey particularly explained that this new song is based on a ?ggeneral observation.?h Did he intend to avoid alarming those willingly misinterpreting political bores everywhere (or simply to make the audience prepare for the bitter lyric)?

        Excellent¡¡show, but I did not think the band was as tight as it could be.

              To a certain part of the crowd that caught his eye, Morrissey remarked: ¡ÈYou are from Nagoya. I can tell. I can ALWAYS tell.¡É (Note: Nagoya is a mid-Japan city which is not in the itinerary this time.) While I could not see the lucky addressee to find the truth, a jokingly know-all tone of his remark sounded amiable and made me smile. Then, Moz shouted ¡ÈNaa-Go-Yaa¡É to start the song, as if it was a typical rock star¡Çs war cry-like ¡Èoh yeeaah.¡É Perhaps he was simply relishing the novelty of city name. However, the fact that the legendary Mr. Morrissey actually acted like a cheerful, light-hearted gaijin singer on tour was very fun and refreshing at least to this local Japanese.

              I had ever seen his live only once here in Osaka. The audience in the huge hall had been in a real frenzy back in that Kill Uncle period, but I felt this Summer Sonic live was better in the overall atmosphere as well as in his vocal quality.

                Annoying Nagoya ... (Score:2, Informative)
                I think he must like the word "Nagoya" ! This reminds me of a story that Kevin Cummins (the former NME photographer) told on BBC Radio 6 recently, when he was being interviewed about his book of Smiths/Morrissey photographs. Morrissey agreed to provide captions for his photographs of the Japanese leg of the '91 tour, which were then printed as a feature in the NME, and one of these captions was "Annoying Nagoya" - not, according to Cummins, because anything went particularly wrong in Nagoya, just because Morrissey liked the wordplay. However, the following week the NME was inundated with letters from upset/concerned Japanese fans, wanting to know why didn't Morrissey like Nagoya ? etc.
