  • I like how Andy pledges his allegiance with a Rolling Stones pinbadge, as he similarly refuses to *get off the stage*. Good on them! I am so pleased!
Although, in the same breath I think if Morrissey joined in it would degrade the thing somewhat.

Great to hear about the get together though.

2006 seems like it'll be a good year all round for music :)

  • Maybe Morrissey won't reunite with these guys because they dress so dreadfully. He dresses with sophistication and these guys look like they just got off a "cross-country" bus trip.

  • Wow. It looks like Morrissey aged better after all. If a saw this picture without their names below it I wouldn't even have known who they were. They also look broke.

  • They both look fine. They look like musicians in their late 30's which is still younger than they are. They are in their 40's .... That's the age of your Dad's friends remember. Hope to look that good when I'm there. It's great to see them together again. Hope they write some new tracks together and release an album. Marr's got a new record coming out, add a track or two with Rourke. You guys are great together ! I know you're reading this Johnny...Do It ! I mean COME...ON...!

    Peace - Tito

  • Johnny's 43 remember. Or 42. I think he looks fine for that.

Andy was never going to give Johnny Depp a race for his wages so we'll leave him alone.

I honestly think Morrissey has aged the most. The guy does look in his early 50's, but in a classic way. In a Sinatra / Bodarge way.

Moz is more stupidly handsome now than he's ever been but he suddenly aged about a decade in the 2 years between Vauxhall and Southpaw. Look at the press photos from the interviews done for those albums!

Take the Q magazine shots alone. The ones for Vauxhall are iconic, shot at the observatory in LA where that great scene from Rebel Without A Cause was done. Then look at the same magazine's shots for the Southpaw interview. He looks a different man.

And nobody cares how Mike Joyce looks.

  • We are discussing the possibility what do you think of Marr and Rourke answering questions sometime after 25th January 2006?

Nothing definite of course as they haven't yet decided if they'll be awake, or in the country, at the time. It may all be carried out by cellphone but hey, worse things have happened.

Anyway post your questions to choose the fuse and sod the consequence.

Red, Brown or Blue, it means nothing to me

  • Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke look fine for their age. It's the music that counts. Dylan looks pretty haggard these days, but has managed two great albums on the trot. When did supposedly senisitive and insightful Smiths fans become so superficial. Those who posted saying they look like they have cancer (a tasteless comment at best) are no better than those who vote in the X Factor based on the look of the contenstants. Marr and Rourke have got older. So have I. So will you. And so what?

PS Boz and Alain have aged too you know!

  • Johnny and Andy look great. It must be a bunch of pre-teens talking shit. If you want looks, go whack off at your boy band site, you fucking pricks!

Especially compared to Morrissey, Johnny looks about 10 years younger and more authentic.

Morrissey looks like he got a stylist and totally lost sight of who he really is. I mean, c'mon. Buying tuxedos from Gucci means you have taste and originality?

Please, if you have ever been to LA, you know even Latino barbers dress just as good. Morrissey is about par for Los Angeles, certainly no trendsetter or fashion extraordinaire.

There's also the fact that Johnny and Andy individually or combined are infinitely more musically talented than anyone Morrissey has ever had in his band.

    Now that's a fact.

Morrissey would do well to ditch the fools he has now and beg Johnny, Andy and yes, Mike Joyce to play with him again.

I mean, did anyone really like You Are the Quarry? Half the songs make you feel like you've got the flu. I mean, naseous.

The few decent tracks are too few definitely. I mean, over a year past, and now, would you can to put "America Is Not the World" on repeat?

Of course not. "Irish Blood, English Heart"? Rubbish. There's about 5 more stinkers on that record that are totally forgettable.

YATQ is a bit like NutraSweet. You're excited at first and it's passes mustard for the first few listen on the strength of that anticipation. But after a while, you realize it's not a CD that grows on you; actually quite the opposite!

Sad to say, those 2 songs I mentioned are worse than the worst songs on the 2 Franz Ferdinand albums, "Up the Bracket" by the Libertines, or the first Strokes album.

The best songs on YATQ are not even better than the best songs on the Babyshambles album.

When stacked against new talent, Morrissey's stuff doesn't rate. But not his fault, it's his band, they suck!

Of course, all the fans and devotees are hoping Jesse will be the new Johnny, but please. This man was kicked out of the Red Hot Chili Peppers before he even recorded 1 song with them.

Is that now what it means to be a Morrissey fan? Heavily anticipating songs from a RHCP reject!

My god, "By the Way" was nice, but certainly I would think Morrissey would aim for higher than B-grade Red Hot Chili Peppers.
