Ben Whishaw, the actor who plays Sebastian Flyte in the new "Brideshead Revisited" film, says he was inspired by Morrissey:
"In a move that's bound to wind up the traditionalists further, he also claims to have based his tortured character on the controversial singer Morrissey.
'He said something like, "They get you young and they sear you". Sebastian knows what his nature is and believes he is going to hell.'"

LOL
No Charles is more the Moz character! (Score:0)
Sebastian is an appauling crybaby and Moz would spit at such a lazy and weak person but of course it is Sebastian who is the interesting person at first until he ends up abroad with a drunken german bastard battling an illness.
I must say I see no similarity anymore with Sebastian and Moz in any way but Charles is certainly a person with many Mozlike characteristics not least the fact that he's blinded by money and wealthy famous people.
The gay stutter is the series real hero!

Catholicism, escapism perhaps? (Score:0)
Perhaps their escapism could be another connecting theme. Lord Sebastian Flyte seeks to escape the boredom of rigid upper class life, while Smiths era Morrissey seeks to escape the dull life of the working class during Thatcher.
