I suppose it may be interesting to some. Especially, since I've received a lot of warm and friendly e-mails after the two first articles regarding my movie. (I'm trying to answer them all, maybe one day I'll succeed. Anyhow, you can always send more). LOUDER THAN BOMBS was honored with the Kodak Cinematography Award at the Slamdance 2002 Film Festival. As a result of this, we're part of the Best of Slamdance screenings, that will take place in several American cities in the forthcoming months and L.A., the home of many of you is the first stop.

And remember - we still haven't got American distribution (and maybe we'll never get any -- or we will only if it's a remake starring Matt Damon with Bruce Springsteen's music - no, I'm joking), so it may be the only chance to see it in L.A.

Where? At the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre at the Egyptian, located at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. between McCadden Place & Las Palmas Avenue in Hollywood east of Highland, after the short "Vessel Wrestling" (13 min.) on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 9:30 PM.

I'll be present on this screening, so if you like or dislike the movie you can come to me and tell me this straight in my face. I'm still not Guy Ritchie, so you won't get batoned by the security, don't worry.

And our web page is currently a bit out of date on this. I had a birth in the family, so now I'm far away from the outside world.

And the last word about Slamdance - the experience was extraordinary! You'll never guess how many Smiths fans are amongst the Slamdance programmers. Just try to sing "There's a club, if you'd like to go..." on the next Slamdance party and you'll hear a choir of innocent, vodka soaked voices singing "You could meet somebody who really loves you!"

Stay handsome. For detailed info refer to:

A lot of people saw this premiere, thanks to all of those who sent in the details.

nyxstar* writes: Just letting you know that on Wednesday (January 23, 2002) a new show on the Fox Network premiered here in the states. It's called 'That 80's Show' and take place in San Diego in the early 80's. The background music for one of the scenes that took place in a record store was The Smiths' "What Difference Does It Make?" I thought that it was strange that THAT particular song was chosen as opposed to some other more popular Smiths songs like "How Soon is Now", which is constantly being played on 80's stations everywhere. Anyways, that's my little contribution to Smiths news. The show is a bit lame, but that particular episode was worth watching.

Any Smiths fans in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area might want to head down the the legendary First Avenue nightclub (the one from "Purple Rain") on Wednesday, January 30th for the 6th Annual Cover Song Contest. Local indie rockers Unbelievable Jolly Machine will be performing a set of Smiths covers with ex-Housebreaker guitarist Brian Herb filling in on lead vox. The set list will include Bigmouth Strikes Again, Panic, Handsome Devil, and some other Smiths favorites. Unbelievable Jolly Machine plays at 9:10, so get down there early. Also playing is Touch and Go recording artists Arcwelder, who are will be featured in the upcoming All Tomorrow's Parties festival in England. They won last year with a set of Electric Light Orchestra covers. (Yikes!) Here's the show information...

just a small mention of the Smiths in this week's Chicago Reader ("Post No Bills", Jan. 25):

"... a bit player in two of the era's more troubled acts, Triple Fast Action and the latter-day Veruca Salt, Kevin Tihista...

He'd always loved the Beatles and the Lovin' Spoonful, and in high school added the Smiths, the Cure, and Aztec Camera to his favorites."
