NME's cover depicts Morrissey and Carl Libertine, while the newspaper proclaims Morrissey's comeback complete, following his fine performance at reading, and his Summer capped.

There is a page devoted to Morrissey and "his young lions" - the likes of The Ordinary Boys, The Libs and Franz whose sound and lyrical content he so obviously influenced, following their performances on the same say at Reading/Leeds.

Q meanwhile runs a feature on "the greatest songwriters" listing Morrissey and Marr up there with the very best. An entire page of fawning praise/adulation and comments from the likes of Ryan Adams accompanies the article, which also lists the 10 essential Moz/Marr moments. A curious selection indeed, including the likes of "Sweet and Tender Hooligan" and "A Rush and a Push" among the ten, but omitting many of their more widely appreciated songs.

Sadly, no Morrissey solo is featured.

I am a close friend of Colin O'Brien's (link to his website) and he has sent scans of the previously mentioned Morrissey pic, [Taken at the Manchester M.E.N Arena 2004] plus a Krays Funeral pic, which is also being shown at the same exhibition...

There are also B+W Catalogues for sale at £7.00 each + p+p [which include the Moz, Kray shots, and many other street scenes, etc, covering the last 50 years].

B+W Moz postcards for sale at £1.00 inc p+p, Professional Silver Gelatin B+W 16 x 12 Inch Prints at £125.00

Colin is a Professional Photographer who's work has been compared to Roger Mayne's work which Morrissey has previously used on Record covers.

Morrissey was recently voted best performer of the series on Jools Holland after a fantastic 4-song set. I've heard from a reliable source that the programme is hoping to secure another appearance by Morrissey for the New Year's Hootenanny. This could possibly coincide with a new Morrissey single, likely to be "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice."

The source is involved in the production of the programme but apparently they're just at the stage of making the decision - no agreement has been entered into and there's no guarantee Morrissey would play, should a slot be offered.

Let's hope it's true and that Morrissey agrees to play! It would certainly be the icing on the cake of a fine year - acts invited are usually those who make the biggest splash in indie music in any given year, as well as a few Jools favourites.

In the new issue of Q, British (Channel 4) news-reader Krishnan Guru-Murthy chooses YATQ for his 'last record I loved' doubtlessly p***ing off enormously our friend John Harris!

"An album to love is so rare. I've tried Keane's Hopes and Fears but it gets a bit boring. I really love You Are the Quarry. I bought it before seeing him at London's Festival Hall. My girlfirend protests that he depresses her when it's on in the car."

XFM ran a brief discussion of the Reading/Carling weekend and Morrissey was described as "the undoubted star of the weekend, and of 2004"

I couldn't name the individuals partaking in the discussion, but here are a few excerpts:

A: So who stole the show?
B: Well that's easy, Morrissey
A: Did he play a good set?
B: *coughing and spluttering* Is How Soon Is Now, There is a Light That Will Never Go Out and Irish Blood, English Heart good enough for you?
C: I'd say that's pretty good!

Later, his comeback was briefly mentioned, and they said how amazing the audience reaction was to his shows at both Reading and Leeds.

It looks like his Summer really has peaked just at the right time - and with excellent early reviews coming through of his smaller venue tour, this looks like the right time to see Morrissey!

All publicity is good publicity and good publicity is even better!

The FOTGTD video is listed in the poll for Best Comeback Video at the Launch site. You can vote as many times as you like.

It only runs until the end of the week, so maybe I wouldn't normally have mentioned it... but the current leaders are Hanson. I probably don't need to elaborate.

Not sure if this has already been posted but ITV2 is doing a highlights show of the Reading Festival this week at 8pm (then repeated after midnight). Morrissey is billed to be on one of these shows but not sure when. He wasn't on tonight's show anyway and they didn't trail him for Thursday... Not sure how many shows its been cut up into, maybe finishes Fri. Bigger acts get 2 songs though Darkness had 3 on tonights show... There you go then.

Madge also writes:

I'm not sure if this will reach anyone in time, but ITV2 is showing highlights of the Reading Festival tonight (Thurs 2nd Sept) from 8pm till 9, repeated at 0.25 - 1.20am.

I watched last night's first half and it was distinctly lacking in Morrissey, so surely he must be on tonight!
