Does the Lamicil commercial sound familiar?

It's been a bit slow around here lately. From Greg Dean:

Okay, this is fairly left-field, but I've heard this commercial so many times, and what I'm going to say just keeps sounding more and more accurate each time, so finally, I'm writing.

There's a commercial playing in the USA for a prescription anti-Fungus toe medicine ("Have yellow toenails?", etc) called Lamicil. The ABC station in Milwaukee, WI plays it incessantly, especially at night. Anyway, what does all this have to do with Morrissey?

The music sounds like a string quartet instrumental rendition of "Now My Heart Is Full", off Vauxhall & I. I've heard the commercial many times, and try to find a portion that doesn't sound like it, but I've not been able to pin anything down... the similarity remains.

Did Morrissey or someone at his company approve this, or is it just a sound-alike song that the Lamicil people figured no one would notice? Who knows... but well, there you go.

Here's a site about Lamicil, no Morrissey mention there (haha).

(Note: This isn't an joke... just a strange, whodathunkit observation)

sad to say, but the lack of news is down to Morrissey himself, surely if he cared about his fans he would GIVE a little more.....

Just for the record, i've inquired, and Mr. Boorer, who of course wrote the music did not okay this song for inclusion for any commercial. Is it really that close to the Moz track?

hey Big Hurt
Morrissey may have toured his pretty ass off, but where are the new songs? Where are the insightful interviews? THAT is what I mean by 'giving'. He is touring on the strength of back catalogue and loyal fanbase, but frankly, any fan with half a brain needs more from their pop star of choice.
I WANT MORE!!!!!

Big Hurt-

Boy, you best not dispute no name Joe.
You are bouts to enter a world of pain Sunny.

I decree today that Morrissey was simply taking and not giving on Oye Estaban! tour. Tickets were overpriced for someone way past his prime. Do you see what I mean my invalid friends?

No Name Joe's precise commentary may have just struck too close to home for some of you peeps.

I'm not trying to be a smart-ass; I'm really not. I just wondered if anyone else has noticed a similarity between the songs, "Used To Be A Sweet Boy" by ours truly and "Used to Be" by the Violent Femmes (off their album, "Why Do Birds Sing." If anyone has both those albums, I invite you listen to both songs and compare them.

There seems to be a similarity too striking to be coincidental, especially considering the titles of the songs are so similar. There is definitely a difference in the tempo of the two songs; the Femmes song seems a bit more buoyant than the M song. My confidence in this connection is mitigated only by my beliefs that Morrissey wouldn't be a Femmes fan. Alain, who is credited with writing the music for that song, might be a Femmes fan, but that still wouldn't explain how the song ended up getting titled the way it did.

I am interested in anyone's honest appraisal of the two songs' comparison.
