He actually thanked Portland for supporting him "during the Eighties, Nineties, Oughts and Teens" and added something along the lines of "and if this is the last time we meet, I thank you".
Do you think it's so simple to buy tickets for EIGHT different shows over the years, coordinating vacation days, putting deposits down on hotel rooms only to lose a shitload of money every time? Cancelling once or twice is understandable, but when a real-life reason to cancel arises after so...
For me, a fan forever that has become increasingly concerned about the frequency of dropped dates, this is a spectacular missive. The line "I fully realize that the word 'cancellation' in every known dictionary is followed by my own name" is comic genius. Thanks Moz. See you in March.

This is the most important part of your post. Of course we all want what's best for Morrissey and his health. If he cancels in order to get healthy it's completely understandable and there's not a thing we...
I thought for sure this was the sixth Bay Area cancel for me. I honestly would do the same thing he is right now if I were in the same situation, but the previous history of last minute cancellations makes it a tad bit tougher to sympathize.
Re: UC Davis in November- anyone going?
Honestly not sure. It is an upper-end type of venue that normally hosts theater and symphony's, so I'm not sure how the crowd control will be. I'm sitting in the front row, left side aisle.
There's one person that can put Morrissey back where he needs to be musically. Rick Rubin. Rubin has a way of getting artists to re-focus on who they are and strip down their sound to just the essentials. He would (in my opinion) have a bigger positive influence on Moz than Mick Ronson did.
I was listening to The Breeders' "Fate To Fatal" EP (released in 2009) and it hit me that their recent music would be perfect to back up Morrissey's voice.
In your fantasy world, which modern band's music could you hear behind Moz' voice?
Though it hurts ever so slightly to see him wear this, it shouldn't come completely unexpected.
The cowardice of the Anonymous post will tend to feel like a misplaced pebble in your shoe after awhile. It's easy to throw rocks at your target if you never have to make yourself visible or...
Listening to some of the knuckle-dragger comments here crack me up. Heaven forbid (!) a vocalist has a unique vocal style and attempts a song that is near and dear to him. It's so easy to throw stones from the shelter of your mother's basements.
The spelling may be incorrect, but it was Jeff Pelletier. There was another guy I knew in attendance who ran a Moz fanzine I believe out of the Georgia area. David Tsend I think was there too.
I live in California so I wasn't able to make it, but several of the people that I traded live shows with were here (Jeff in Connecticut!). I'm pretty sure Julia was in the audience too.
Anyone else?

My friends and I will almost always play this when we're a bit hammered. I love the little Moz inflections in his vocals. Whoever did this went through a great deal of trouble all for making me laugh out loud.
