Rate Your Moz/Smiths Song Part 5: ALL THE LAZY DYKES

I can't believe all the hatred for this song! Someone once even described it as sounding like a Kill Uncle b-side! I think it's beautiful, and my second favourite from Quarry (after Jesus). It's understated, and the singing is beautiful.

The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 16: AT LAST I AM BORN

Love ROTT, but along with IJWTSTBH, I can't stand this song. I appreciate that they're trying something different with the music, but it just annoys the shit out of me. Mind you, it's taken me three years to start liking "I'm Not Sorry" from YATQ, so you never know, this might eventually grow on...

Which Morrissey songs have the best bass line?

The "walking" bass on the Hatful version of This Charming Man is great! Don't really like that song that much, but what a bass-line! Love the repeated bass-line on Swallow On My Neck, as well. It's easier to make out on the live version...

Moz vs. Axl, who's cut short more shows?

Despite their music being completely different, there are a lot of things Moz and old Axl have in common. Their both completely insistent on doing things their way or not at all, what with Moz having only veggie food at his gigs, and axl refusing to perform without having been attended to by...

    Funniest Moz Lyric

I laugh out loud every time I listen to one of the 99/2000 bootlegs and he sings Is It Really So Strange, changing the words to: "I lost my WIG in Newport Pagnell". Silly, but funny :D

    Southpaw Grammar

I dunno why I love it so much, but for me Southpaw is second in Moz's solo canon to Vauxhall. Like I say, I can't really justify it, as "Best Friend On The Payroll" and "Do Your Best and Don't Worry" aren't exactly stunning. But, even just for the song "Southpaw" itself, this album is worth it...

    the queen is dead overrated?

Some Girls...Is musically one of the loveliest things Johnny Marr ever concocted, IMHO. The lyrics aren't BAD, per se, just not up to scratch with the music. Vicar in a Tutu is a nice, fun little song, certainly no worse than Frankly, Mr. Shankly. It's just Never Had No One ever than sort of...

Of Morrissey's 8 studio albums which has the best sleeve?

Arsenal then Kill Uncle then Ringleader Southpaw's sleeve is dire, and Quarry is not much better. In fact, most of my favourite Moz albums have the worst sleeves. Go figure!

What Are Your Top 10 Moz B-sides?

    1. Swallow On My Neck (THE most beautiful and underrated Moz song ever?) 2. The Edges Are No Longer Parallel (the same as above, pretty much!) 3. Now I Am A Was (a great little tune, always brings a smile) 4. Jack The Ripper (fully deserving of it's legendary status. Studio still better than...

    Paul Morrissey can't sing....

Even though The Smiths first album is my total favourite, just compare the guy who sings "Miserable Lie" to the one singing "I'll Never Be anybody's Hero Now"....He has come on so many leaps and bounds.

    ROTT...Your Final Verdict?

Generally, I agree with those views above...Its a rag-bag of great, GREAT songs and some really iffy, sub-par ones. Pigsty, You Have Killed Me, Anybody's Hero and Dear God are up there with the best of any Morrissey album, but At Last I Am Born, Boy Happy and The Youngest...are really...
