yes, i know that there's a moz poster on the wall, but this time my question is purely academic, for those who saw the film: i have to hand out a paper concerning the ideology of films, i chose f***ING AMAL coz it's the only one i saw from the list - i have to describe the degree of subversiveness of the text, how much is it critical of the values of the white-anglosaxson-protestant-upper class-heterosexual male - off course it doesnt have to be critical of ALL this variety.

i'd love to hear some opinions and impressions of the film..

thanx a lot!

i suppose it's a bit critical about those values, but i think it's even more critical about the values of a small town.
i also think that, even though it's always a bit political to make a lesbian love story, it's first and foremost a love story and not a political film

I thought it was an interesting film, the constant subject matter focussed on the endless battle of unrequited love, and teengae obsession.. and sad loneliness and acceptance into peer groups. And it is intersting not just because there's Morrissey pictures on bedroom walls (!).. and not just because it had Swedish teenage lesbians in it (!).. I saw it as quite an arty film, but no doubt the titilation aspect has won a few people over.. (ha ha) but if it gets a meassge across in your study, then it's a winner!

I can't recall what the English version of the film was called though but it's worth seeing in the context of a curious love story for sure..

i think the english version was called "show me love" (boring title!)
btw you should absolutely see moodyson's other film "together" as well, it's just as brilliant as f***ing åmål!

That's the title.. it was on Channel 4 here about 3 months ago. Bit of a rambling film from what i recall and missed the opening 20 minutes.

Yes, I heard 'Together' is a classic but never got to see it.. isn't it set in a dysfunctional hippie commune in Stockholm..?? Was you into Reyjkavik 101 as well.. I liked that film if you have a perchant for the Scando films... It was funnily weird in that great art house way.

I never got to see Amelie either which was a shame.. nd how many more times can we say f*** in thread!! ha ha.. it's great!
