5 July 1986 - Euro-Tube (UK, Channel 4)
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Panic
The version of the then unreleased "Panic" is quite unique, with a longer drum intro. Morrissey was joined on stage by a schoolboy (not his nephew nor Marr's) singing back vocals. The kid wore an hearing aid and had a bush sprouting from his back pocket, in true Morrissey pastiche.

Might be why 'There Is A Light' was labelled as 'Panic'.... that's nearly as bad as the "Paul Morrissey" faux-pas by the TV crew for Charlie's Bus :p

The first time I have read Paul Morrissey I thought it was only a joke - and I didn't know that the debut album cover had a shot from PM's film.

*EDIT*
And I found the strangest version for There is a light. It's a spanish version that used several footages from SMiths years to make this video.

Shit. I used to know the name of this kid because I did some kind of search and found the answer, but for the life of me I can't remember it now :(

And Amy -- you've never heard There Is A Light played like that before? It's the standard live version the Smiths did. You can hear it on pretty much any bootleg like that :)
Still, a lovely video, really captures the passion IMO :thumb:

Does anyone know the guitar tab for the riff Johnny is playing in this performance of there is a light?

I’ve always wanted to learn it but I’ve never been able to find it on any guitar tab websites.

You mean where he emulates the synth flute that's in the studio recording?

Very simple :)
