How fairly do you think The Guardian handled Subspecies-gate?

I thought Armitage's article was fair. But then there was the huge full page article the same day and the two comment blogs, it did seem a little excessive. I don't like that Tom Clark fool he should stick to writing reports on pensions.
 
The article itself was fair and very entertaining.

But how can an article have caused a furore before anybody had even read it?

The Guardian reignited the race row with the blunt "Morrisseys calls the Chinese a subspecies" headline, which he actually didn't say.

Many casual readers will have just read the headline, not the article.

People should have been left to read the piece themselves and make up their own minds. If the comment had then gone on to cause a furore, fair enough... but the Guardian certainly maximised the impact and the response.
