Top Of The Pops' great lost moment
NME.com posted an article today that looks at the best moments in Top of the Pops history, with links to videos of many of those performances on YouTube. Included were The Smiths:
"As lovers of all things pop Morrissey and Johnny Marr made their TOTP performances must watch occasions with their full gladiolus swinging, hearing aid wearing pomp."
They apparently chose the clip of "This Charming Man" for classic Morrissey in his gorgeous, gladioli-waving glory.

Terminal Velocity (Score:0)
This time we evaluate the required rotor speed for liftoff, the object being young Moz, singing 'this charming man' there in the TOTP. The rotor is consisted, in this case, of various flower elements, held in hand, like a glove, and manouvered as seen there in the video.
Moz propably weighted about 68 kg in those times. As can be estimated from the video, experimented rotor turnover speed of approximately 86 laps per minutes is not sufficient to raise his mass. Altought some lift is felt, surely helping the quiffs erect position.
Modeled in mathlab 6.2 can be calculated, that he should do 345800 rotations per minutes, to gain sufficient lift there. So there you have it boys and girls. That is a good start though.
