In a 1997 KROQ radio interview, one of the songs Morrissey selected to be played was "London Calling" by The Clash: "I think it's nice and British and very urban and quite violent and so forth, very west London." In a 2000 interview Joe Strummer mentioned being approached to produce Morrissey's album, sometime in 1995.
